In this podcast, I offer you some tips on how to shoot better black-and-white photographs. Shooting in black-and-white is considerably different than shooting in color. I believe these handy tips will help you shoot better black-and-white photographs. 

This podcast is about Joseph Sudek. He was a  famous photographer that became handicapped after world war one. He has many books to his name including The Legacy of A Deeper Vision and The Window of My Studio. 

Sudek's work is exemplary he moved from pictoralism in photography to straight photography during his career. He moved his large-format camera and his tripod around with one arm because of amputation. It's a fascinating story and I suggest you go to the library to look at some of his prints.

Lynn started her journey at an American army base in Germany, started her own portrait business, and mentored with some of the great photographers of her time. In a continuing effort to provide some historical background for black-and-white photography I have provided a short bio – sketch of Paul Strand.

Strand was instrumental in starting a movement in straight photography. This movement continues today. It allows us to photograph many different things on a  limitless basis. Paul Strand's work can be seen throughout the Internet and at many photo galleries.

In recent podcasts I have talked about the fact that photographers should print. However, many photographers don't want to invest in the printer and the expensive inks. And, in addition, they do not have a friend that is capable of producing a quality print.

Centric photo in Tucson Arizona gives us a unique example of using third parties for professional printing. Professional printing does not necessarily mean expensive, but it means high quality and something to put on your wall after the printing and framing are done. This is an interesting podcast and it will hopefully inspire you to think about this alternative for printing and framing your photographs.

This podcast is about the discovery of a valuable Edward Weston modernistic nude by the Dennos Museum. This Weston modernistic nude is one of the most valuable in the United States. There are only three known photographs.

The Dennos Museum is located in Traverse City,  Michigan. It has a unique collection, of sculpture, Inuit art, photographs, and paintings.  The Edward Weston photograph is the most valuable item in their collection. It's a fascinating story of how the Museum acquired this photograph.
