The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. A tumultuous, confounding, and grueling 2021 continues to punish non-white people around the world. The workplace continues to be especially challenging. There's been a complete spectrum of chaos. From Washington state to Illinois, worker shortages are making a stressful start to the new school year even more anxious - if not down right impossible. A week after the Food And Drug Administration officially approved the Pfizer vaccine, more businesses and universities moved to require vaccines for all students and/or employees. On one hand, White police officers, White fire fighters and a myriad of other workers loudly oppose these requirements. The fake vaccine card business is booming, and there are support groups to assist employees successfully claim a religious exemption to vaccines. On the other hand, fears of another shutdown and the potential work stoppages, layoffs and closures makes autumn look ominous. Federal unemployment benefits are slated to end this week in the U.S. Some reports suggest even this will fail to motivate many workers to return to low-paying, "dead end" jobs.

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 5th study session on Woody Allen's Apropos of Nothing. One of the most critically acclaimed movie-makers of all time, Woody Allen is a New York City and entertainment icon. In addition to his flicks, he's performed comedy, played packed concert halls, and written books - Apropos of Nothing being his most recent. Published in 2020, the text recounts his life, celebrated career, and "romance" with Soon-Yi Previn. In addition to being non-white, adopted/abducted from Korea, and decades younger than Allen, Previn was Allen's stepchild. Despite a damning Child Protective Services investigation and years of allegations of child rape and sexual abuse of children, Allen remains beloved my hoards of Whites. We'll examine this work for what it reveals about White culture. During our last reading, Allen details his burgeoning entertainment career, which afforded him the access to even more powerful Whites. He visits the president for a 2nd time, and brags about kicking it at the Playboy mansion. Although he shamelessly concedes his fondness of sexual activity with females, he claims he remained "G-rated" while visiting Hugh Hefner. Allen also spills the beans on his supersonically promiscuous wife, Louise. He claims she began experimenting with a variety of narcotics and was even more sexually adventurous when under the influence.

Silva will be joining BTR News as a guest speaker to shed light on the issue of redlining and other banking industry practices that she says has left "Blacks, Latinos, and immigrants without the financial tools necessary to progress financially, systematic racism in the banking industry".

In the wake of the murder of George Floyd by convicted killer and former cop Derek Chauvin, which caused a new wave of mass protests against police brutality, many corporations including banks announced a slew of "woke" polices to play their part in the elimination of systemic racism. Are banks doing enough? Not according to Wanda Silva.

The Context of White Supremacy examines the catastrophe in Louisiana where Hurricane Ida is pummeling the region. This storm - described as the most powerful to touch Louisiana since 1850, touched down 16 years to the day since Hurricane Katrina and the levee failure. With more than 1,000 black people perishing during the first week of the storm, the 2005 catastrophe remains one of the deadliest occurrences in U.S. history. The C.O.W.S. hosted numerous authors, filmmakers and Katrina survivors to better understand how White Supremacists, not the toxic flood waters or failed levees, were the biggest problem. As of August 30th, the entire city of New Orleans is without power. 911 calls are suspended in some areas of the state. Gus will remind listeners that White Supremacists love and exploit chaotic environments like this. With such upheaval, black people are extremely vulnerable.

As vaccine hesitancy persists in Africa and the African Diaspora, with confirmed cases on the rise, we have African sources reporting a new emerging variant of Corona Virus 19. We have seen white religious figures push fear of the vaccines and forbidding people from wearing masks on their property as they seek to test their “God” in some fool hearty show of “faith”, we also have some Black “ministers” jumping on that bandwagon who are not even Christians but claiming to represent Christ talking about “God” told them the vaccines are to depopulate the earth. BTR News takes a look at some of the information coming from African news sources about covid since people are also engaging in “spookism” to make Black people fearful of the vaccines while their dying at higher rates than their white counterparts.

There were a multitude of momentous events this week. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) formally approved the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine. This led to the Pentagon and other employers mandating vaccines for all employees, and President Biden strongly encouraged other companies to do the same. The Taliban is accused of a terrorist attack on a Kabul airport, where at least 60 Afghans (non-white people) and thirteen U.S. citizens perished. These events were drowned out in some quarters where attention was focused on the so called "milk crate challenge." Conspicuously, viral videos erupted where almost exclusively black people harmed themselves while scaling a pyramid of milk crates. The very same FDA commented that before joining the challenge, folks should check with their hospital to be sure beds are available.
