On this episode of The Occasional Show, Kari Simms and Shawn Burns interview Adam Growe, comedian and host of The Adam Growe Quiz Show, trivia with a twist. They discuss his Dual Citizenship part 2, his voting rights in the United States, and more!
Some of the burning questions we asked Adam:
In this episode of Geek Cinema Society, Brett Stewart, Nicole Davis, David Luzader, and their guest, Peter Fisher, delve into 1985’s ‘The Goonies.‘ This classic became a staple of many childhoods throughout the 80s and 90s. It is often looked upon as one of the more lasting adventure films of its era. The film was also an early entry in the careers of several notable young actors, including Corey Feldman and Sean Astin. Many may remember the infectious Cyndi Lauper penned theme, ‘The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough.’ (This, of course, marking Geek Cinema Society’s second week in a row of stellar 1980s children’s films with appropriately awful theme music.)
One could argue, though, that ‘The Goonies’ is a nostalgic trip best taken by those who grew up with the film. In this episode, the panel digs into some differing viewpoints of the movie’s lasting appeal. Does Richard Donner’s tale of adventure, pirate treasure, and bandits hold up in a contemporary setting? Or have the Goonies fallen by the wayside over the years? Is Cyndi Lauper’s music still as glorious as it once was? Well, yes. Of course. Either way, always remember: Goonies never say die.
For listeners who would like to follow along and treat Geek Cinema Society as a film club of sorts, we will be watching ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ next week! Following that, we’ll be watching ‘The Crow.’

In this episode of Geek Cinema Society, Brett Stewart, Nicole Davis, David Luzader, and their guest, Nate Ward, delve into 1984’s ‘The NeverEnding Story.‘ This classic fantasy film follows the adventure of Atreyu through the land of Fantastia as he attempts to stop the darkness taking hold of it. His journey is followed closely by Bastion, a young boy hunkered down in a school’s attic profusely reading to find out happens next to Atreyu. Does ‘The NeverEnding Story’ still stand tall as a pillar of mid-1980s fantasy? Or has time taken its toll on Falkor? (The perpetually stoned flying dragon-dog of your childhood.) The panel discusses all of that and so much more on this episode of Geek Cinema Society! (Oh, and the panel discusses this masterpiece.)
For listeners who would like to follow along and treat Geek Cinema Society as a film club of sorts, we will be watching ‘The Goonies’ next week! Following that, we’ll be watching ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier.’

Google messaging app, Allo, released on Google I/O earlier this year. They had talked about new message retention practices that would store messages only temporarily. They’ve now essentially changed their mind, only allowing this in Incognito Mode; otherwise you’ll have to manually delete conversations. Allo messages are encrypted between your device and Google’s servers, where they’re stored to make them accessible to Google’s algorithms. The reason for the change is its smart reply feature, which gives suggestio
