Today the soulless dolls of Brokebot Mountain discuss the 2009 Animation Action-Adventure film ‘9’ directed by Shane Acker.  David harps on Kari for her definition of “Jap-animation”.   Does this mark the spot that Brokebot Mountain turns into the Crispin Glover Podcast?  Kari goes ga-ga over ‘Karen the suit’ in Spider-man: Homecoming.  Why does 9 even talk? And why does Phil hates Edward Scissorhands?  All this and more on today’s show.

In a world destroyed in a war between man and machine, a hand-stitched doll with the number 9 written on its back comes to life. The world he has awakened in is frightening, but he quickly learns that he is not alone and that there are others like him, also with a single digit written on their back. The first one he encounters is 2 who tells him something of what happened to the world. 2 is also thrilled with the disk 9 is carrying, one with three unique symbols on the front. 9 soon learns that the disk and some of the other dolls who are prepared to die for the good of humankind may be the last hope for man’s salvation.

In this episode of Geek Cinema Society, Brett Stewart, Nicole Davis, David Luzader, and their guest, Jackie Hern, delve into 1977’s ‘Kentucky Fried Movie.’

This episode, we feature the return of Jackie Hern, who guests with Brett, David, and Nicole in their first encounter with the team of Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker. ZAZ honed their skills together in university comedy theater, and took advantage of how sketch comedy was taking off with the advent of Saturday Night Live. Their frenetic style inspired a generation of vulgar but funny filmmakers. Future movies borrowed the idea of cramming in as many jokes as possible in a short time frame, but always with an over-arching narrative. Every parody film made since 1977 pretty much owes its existence to Kentucky Fried Movie.
