Block party permit could have avoided West Philly shooting, city officials say

  • According to an AP survey, Vice President Kamala Harris has secured the support of enough Democratic delegates to become her party's nominee. Harris has already received backing from hundreds of delegates from more than a handful of states, including Pennsylvania.
  • More than 100 people were in attendance when a gunfight broke out on Sunday, killing three and wounding six. Nearly 40 shots were fired. The mayor says if block party organizers had obtained a permit from the city, police would have been better able to prepare for a large community gathering.
  • ??????Edsaul Mendoza, the former police officer who pleaded guilty to fatally shooting 12-year-old Thomas "T.J." Siderio in South Philadelphia nearly two years ago, was sentenced to eight to 20 years behind bars.
  • Students without insurance in Camden County are welcome to receive necessary vaccines for free ahead of the start of school.
