💥 Balancer, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol operating on the Ethereum blockchain, has recently disclosed a critical vulnerability impacting several of their V2 Pools. Crucial Info via Twitter here https://lnkd.in/e4Y_2rk9

- Emergency mitigation procedures have been executed to secure a majority of TVL, but some funds remain at risk.
- Users are advised to withdraw affected LPs immediately.
- Important to note this vulnerability has not been exploited, and no funds have been lost.

In response, the Emergency SubDAO 134 acted to enable proportional
exit from all affected pools, and pause any pools still within the pause window.

🛑 A federal judge ruled against a group of Coinbase-backed investors and developers last week who alleged the U.S. Department of the Treasury overstepped its authority in sanctioning Tornado Cash. They also suggested this information be “permanently” stored and shared with law enforcement “to keep the order and safety of the virtual world.”

💥Asset management firm Valkyrie filed for an Ether futures exchange-traded fund with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Aug. 16. As per the application, the fund will not directly invest in Ether but will seek to purchase a number of ETH futures contracts. Eric Balchunas, Senior ETF Analyst for Bloomberg mentioned via Twitter https://lnkd.in/daUq8nyG

❗ Important to note According to Valkyrie’s application, the ETF investment in Ether futures contracts will be limited to 8,000 contracts per month, in compliance with position limits established by the CHICAGO MERCANTILE EXCHANGE INC.. Futures contracts are standardized agreements to buy or sell an asset at a future point at a specific price. If approved, investors will be able to wager on future prices of Ether through the ETF.

🔴 US Congressman Warren Davidson has railed against central bank digital currencies (CBDC), stating that enacting a ban on these instruments is “essential” for the future of the fintech industry in America. Davidson explained that many people wrongly conflate cryptocurrencies with CBDC when these are two different concepts.

In an interview with Cointelegraph, Blockstream mining sales head James Macedonio unpacked the company’s plans to take advantage of a “huge separation” in the value of Bitcoin BTC. 🔸 Blockstream is partnering with Luxembourg-based digital securities marketplace STOKR to launch the Blockstream ASIC (BASIC) Note. Macedonio said that Blockstream will look to initially secure $5 million for its Series 1 BASIC Notes, each valued at $115,000, to buy ASICs at scale, store and then sell them back to the market as demand for hardware picks up into 2024.

🔴 Catherine Wood’s ARK Invest and 21Shares had collaborated again to refile for a spot Bitcoin ETF earlier this year after the SEC rejected previous applications. However, with its latest order calling for public input on ARK 21 Shares application, this deadline is consequently extended.
