  • We Belong Here is Doubling Down on New York With Two Major Festivals in 2025

Miami-based electronic music event organizer We Belong Here is significantly expanding its New York presence, announcing two separate three-day festivals that will transform both Brooklyn's waterfront and Manhattan's Central Park in October 2025.

The surging festival brand, which launched back in 2021, will debut its first Brooklyn event at Greenpoint Waterfront from October 3-5, followed by its second annual Central Park festival at Wollman Rink from October 10-12.

    Brooklyn's Greenpoint Waterfront.

    c/o We Belong Here

We Belong Here's 2024 Central Park debut was one of the year's top dance music festivals, bringing FISHER, Kaskade and more to the storied Wollman ice rink. The success of that event appears to have emboldened organizers to double their NY footprint, capitalizing on the city's dance music scene and iconic skyline backdrops.

The venture offers electronic music enthusiasts two distinct experiences within a single week. The back-to-back scheduling is an ambitious expansion for the boutique festival, which has built its reputation around intimate, scenic locations and oversized dancefloors. The festivals are also 21+ only, targeting what organizers describe as a "more mature and refined crowd."

    c/o We Belong Here

Both fests will maintain We Belong Here's signature elements: 360° stages, spacious dancefloors and lineups mixing major touring acts with emerging local talent. Enhanced amenities include elevated food options curated by Smorgasburg, dedicated seating areas and surrealist art installations.

The expansion comes as We Belong Here approaches its fifth anniversary, with the brand emphasizing "intimate growth and meaningful impact." Beyond the festivals, the company operates scholarship programs with Scratch Academy to support emerging DJs.

You can sign up to receive notifications when lineups are announced, and tickets go on sale on We Belong Here's website.

  • Chris Lake’s "Chemistry" Marks A Defining Moment In His House Music Legacy

With his debut album Chemistry, Chris Lake asserts full command over the genre he's helped reshape over the years.

Spanning fifteen tracks and stitched together with a precise sense of artistic purpose, the long-awaited project from Lake is both highly collaborative and intentional in its storytelling. At a time when singles continue to dominate the dance music discourse, Chemistry is a welcome outlier.

Lake has always had an instinct for stoking movement, but on Chemistry, he pushes further, exploring the emotional and narrative potential of house music with a rare kind of clarity. The opening track "On and On" sets the tone with a splash of blissed-out piano house that lands with equal parts levity and lift.

Previously-released single "Savana" arrives early on as track number three, and it’s already one of Lake’s most resonant to date. The hypnotic track pulses with vibrant synths and a sing-along style chorus that distills the track’s thesis into a perfectly carefree mantra.

As the album unfolds, Lake operates like a director, pulling nuanced performances from every featured artist on the highly collaborative project. This is clearest on the title track, "Chemistry," where Vera Blue’s falsetto shines across a restless, vocaloid-laced synth lead. Meanwhile, "Ease My Mind" offers a moment to deeply exhale midway through the record, pairing Lake with Abel Balder for one of the album’s most affecting moments.

Throughout Chemistry, Lake reveals his range within the genre, moving seamlessly from groove-driven floor-fillers to introspective, melodic pieces. Lake delivers a project that's both wide in ambition and laser-focused in execution. Overall, Chemistry feels handcrafted as it leans into the legacy Lake has built, then pushes beyond it.

  • Just A Gent Embraces Human Evolution With New Track, "Freak Of Nature"

There’s nothing graceful about Just A Gent's latest release, and that’s exactly the point. Out now via Rezz’s HypnoVizion label, "Freak Of Nature" crashes into the frame with unpredictably raw brush strokes of impulsive genius.

Australian producer Jacob Grant, better known as Just A Gent, embraces his most unruly instincts on this three-minute sound sculpture. Equal parts spasm and soliloquy, the track navigates constant sharp pivots with surgical precision. Glitch-heavy percussion interacts with theatrical builds, while warped melodies flare and disappear like dying stars. It defies any notion of simplicity or playing by the rules, a feeling that Grant created by design.

“'Freak Of Nature' is a tune created while reflecting on how insane evolution is and how far we’ve come as a species,” Grant said in a press release shared with EDM.com. “We’re all freaks in one way or another and this is me expressing my weirder side.”

Grant affords listeners little downtime within the track, keeping the audience on their toes with ebbs and flows of incessantly experimental sound design. The pacing is pure midtempo menace, perfectly “Rezz-coded,” as Grant noted in a recent Instagram post. With his HypnoVizion debut, Just A Gent leverages a valuable opportunity to bare the inner workings of his personal and artistic creativity, and he did so in a way that will surely earn him a bevy of new fans.

  • ESSE Releases Razor-Sharp House Heater, "Work It"

Emerging once again from the lab, ESSE has released "Work It," an industrial-strength club cut that tightens the screws on the producer's growing reputation as one of the most surgical in house music.

With "Work It," ESSE steps into top form on the back of a track that's heavy on groove. The track boasts a propulsive bassline that refuses to break stride, marching forward with a tangible sense of momentum. High-energy vocal chops drive the rhythm into overdrive, giving the track a relentless feel without tipping into excess.

The release is out by way of Tchami's Confession Records. As the imprint celebrates its 10th year of redefining house music’s contours, ESSE's latest offering arrives as a reminder of how far the sound has evolved and where it’s headed.

The track is a sharp follow-up to the producer's brooding rework of The Chemical Brothers' "Block Rockin Beats," which showcased the producer’s ambitions and ability to reimagine classics with a modern edge.

As for "Work It," you can listen to the release below and find the track on streaming services here.

  • Shanghai Doom's New Album "Danger Console" is Chaos Engineered to Precision

Shanghai Doom is sonically exploring the tension of a world on edge: volatile, unstable, and fully charged.

Their new album, Danger Console, features eleven experimental tracks "based around the theme of a power overload," the artists stated in a press release shared with EDM.com.

Traversing a variety of sounds and tempos, the album delivers gritty, ominous energy grounded in low-end pressure. Some of the highlights include "Massive," which flexes jagged textures that are both beautiful and brutal in equal measure. "Berserkers" is designed to disorient, channeling a heavy dose of primal tension. Elsewhere on the album, razor-sharp intensity unfolds in "Mad Ting," which hits like a glitch in reality.

"It's a lot of work, but the best part about an album is being able to take the listener on a journey and showcase a variety of styles," says the duo in an exclusive conversation with EDM.com. "Originally, it was a couple of separate EPs, and we noticed a common theme between the songs, so we began formulating an album around it."

"We, as a group, have a few different sound design zones and musical styles we tap into, so it was fun to see common themes emerge between the tracks. I love how this album plays out to start to finish, and the overarching story and chaos is always my favorite stuff to play out live."

Shanghai Doom kicked off their Danger Console tour at Beyond Wonderland last month. They'll make stops in Indianapolis, Brooklyn, Charleston, and more this summer.

  • Afrojack, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, & Amél Unleash Generational Collab "Our Time"

Afrojack, Martin Garrix, and David Guetta have released their first-ever track together, joining forces with rising producer Amél on the new single, "Our Time," out now via Spinnin' Records.

Despite the artists' long-standing friendships and frequent intersections behind the scenes, this marks the first time all three have come together on an official release. The track first made its debut at AMF during Amsterdam Dance Event, with Afrojack and Garrix teasing an early version to a packed arena. More recently, all four artists appeared live onstage at Ushuaïa Ibiza during Guetta's "F**k Me I’m Famous" residency, offering fans a glimpse into the chemistry behind the project. It's a union steeped in history but driven by a forward-facing spirit.

"I'm incredibly proud to be part of this project and to have our lives intertwined the way they are. This release brings together four generations – it's a story that represents all of us, from where we started to where we are now. This is our time," says Afrojack.

That multigenerational touch is evident all throughout the record. With Amél handling key parts of the production, his presence injects a fresh, creative angle without disrupting the shared identity at the core. The result is a track that doesn't aim to relive the past, but instead builds directly upon it, channeling the essence of peak EDM into a sound shaped for today.

"I'm really grateful the four of us came together for this track, it's a perfect example of what a great collaboration can be. I love how it all evolved, from the original demo and chord changes to the final result. I'm truly proud of what we've created," Martin Garrix reflects.

David Guetta shares that: “Even though it was sometimes difficult to coordinate our busy schedules and since we’re all in different parts of the world – we still made it work. What really stood out to me was how dedicated everyone was. Even when we were on stage together, playing the mix, we were still focused on making it better, down to the vocal details. That level of commitment says everything."

There's a deliberate nod to the early 2010s baked into the sound design. Crisp percussion and a soaring lead synth come together in a mix that feels increasingly euphoric as the track goes on. Each producer's signature touch surfaces in the arrangement, but the final product holds together with clarity and purpose.

"A few years ago, this was just a dream. Working with any of you felt so out of reach – and then Afrojack discovered me. To be here now, doing this, feels surreal. I'm incredibly grateful and so excited for what’s to come," says Amél.

  • The Chainsmokers and Beau Nox Unveil Long-Awaited Single "White Wine & Adderall"

The Chainsmokers have officially released their new single "White Wine & Adderall" today, featuring vocals from Beau Nox.

The single opens in freefall, as Nox delivers the line, "I know that you think I'm useless," over a bed of ambient haze. It's a line that doesn't just stick; it stings, tapping into a tone of emotional depletion. But it doesn't take long before the smoke clears and the production kicks in with clean-lined euphoria and an understated groove that keeps things moving without softening the impact. Synths flicker in and out while the low end hums with the kind of tension that never breaks.

The track has already made the rounds in their live sets, with early teases at The Edge, Escapade Festival, and The Cause in London sending fans into a frenzy. Now officially released via Disruptor and Columbia Records, the studio version delivers on the hype.

This release follows last year's "Don’t Lie" with Kim Petras, a sleek, pop-leaning single that highlighted the duo's versatility and melodic instincts. "White Wine & Adderall" takes a different route, leaning into a more textured, electronic sound that plays to further showcases their strengths as producers.

  • The End of an Era: Tipper to Play Final Shows at Orion Amphitheater and Red Rocks

Few artists have carved out a lane as distinct and enduring as Tipper. Now, the iconic producer has announced his final shows before his retirement at Orion Amphitheater and Red Rocks.

Emerging from the underground in the mid-90s, Tipper didn't just ride the wave of ambient and breakbeat sounds: he pioneered a completely distinct direction. His music defies categorization, fusing vinyl-scratching wizardry with glitchy, textured soundscapes. From his energizing uptempo sets to thought-provoking ambient performances, Tipper has left an impressive legacy on the electronic music scene.

His impact stretches far beyond the music itself. Through the Tipper & Friends event series, he has fostered a fiercely loyal and connected fanbase that values intention, visual artistry, and the kind of sonic exploration that doesn't fit neatly on a lineup. For many, Tipper events represent so much more than just music: they are completely transformative experiences.

Tipper's retirement arrives after years of health issues that "changed his day to day in significant ways," his team wrote in 2022. The enigmatic artist officially announced his retirement plans last year and has since performed at a slew of festivals, including Lightning in a Bottle, Shambhala, Hulaween, and many more, in addition to his own curated events. Next week, he will perform at Secret Dreams at Ohio's Legend Valley.

The final two events before Tipper's retirement will take place in Alabama over Labor Day weekend and in Colorado in September. Pre-sale tickets will be made available to his mailing list soon.

  • Charlotte de Witte to Make Tomorrowland History with Two Mainstage Sets in One Day

With Tomorrowland's return to Boom, Belgium just days away, the festival has confirmed that on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, Charlotte de Witte will become the first artist to perform twice on the Mainstage in a single day, marking a landmark double appearance never before seen in the event’s nineteen-year run.

The local titan will launch the day with a special Daybreak set, anchoring the morning with the stripped, pulsing selections that have made her a global headliner. Then, after a full day of programming, she'll step back into the booth to close the night in front of tens of thousands, bringing the energy full circle in a move that blends narrative and spectacle.

    View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Tomorrowland (@tomorrowland)

"This year, I'll be playing on the Mainstage – not once, but twice," de Witte stated in a press release shared with EDM.com. "Back in 2011, after winning a DJ contest, I had the chance to open the Mainstage of Tomorrowland. It basically changed my life. In 2022, three years ago, I was the first techno and female act to close the same Mainstage. Fast forward to this year – 2025 – I will be closing the Mainstage and I will also be opening the Mainstage on the same day to have a very full circle all-round 360 approach to the whole day. I really look forward to seeing everyone at the Mainstage twice this year."

The performances will take place during the first weekend of Tomorrowland's 19th edition, which runs from July 18th through July 20th, 2025. This year's theme, "Orbyz," promises to transform the festival’s stages with a fresh visual identity, but it’s de Witte's rare double performance that may end up defining the weekend.
