Chris Lake has announced his long-awaited debut album, Chemistry, arriving July 11th via his own label, Black Book Records.
The project marks a new creative chapter for the renowned house music producer, blending his club-tested sound with a wider artistic range. Alongside the announcement, Lake dropped a new single, "In My Head," a long anticipated collaboration with genre-blurring singer Amber Mark.
The news surfaced just ahead of Lake's groundbreaking performance at Coachella, where on Thursday night he'll become the first artist to perform a set within the iconic festival's campgrounds. On the eve of its first weekend, he's turning what's historically been a quiet prelude into a full-scale kickoff, treating fans to a high-energy DJ set packed with unreleased music, including a sneak peek at Chemistry.
"In My Head," which first garnered buzz during Lake's momentous Hollywood Boulevard takeover alongside FISHER, pairs his sharp production with Mark's radiant vocals. The track, which follows preceding singles "Ease My Mind" and "Toxic," fuses elements of deep house and R&B to further set the tone for what's shaping up as one of the year's top dance albums.
"This album has been a long time in the making, and it features some really special artists I’ve been lucky enough to work with," Lake said. "'In My Head' has been one of the most requested tracks from my sets—so people can finally stop asking me when it’s coming out."

For many, raves are an escape, a temporary haven from life’s immense weight. But it can be so much more than a short-term remedy.
Music and movement are incredibly therapeutic. They can play a profound role, not only in masking pain, but also in mending it. Just ask Steller.
The surging DJ and bass music producer is making the final preparations for her debut headlining tour. Titled "Here & Now," it represents a confident step forward in her budding music career while also reminding that personal fulfillment need not be a distant dream.
Steller is partnering with the nonprofit mental health support organization To Write Love On Her Arms, which will provide onsite resources and conversations about mental health. The goal is not only to provide a safe space, but to build a bridge forward for anyone struggling.
“Music is an escape for many people,” Steller tells EDM.com in a candid interview. “When I first started going to shows, I thought, ‘Wow, this is a place I feel fully accepted. Anything happening in my personal life disappears. Everyone is here for one thing. It’s so loving and the energy is high.’”
“I want to create that with my shows. Having this partnership lets people know we’re there for you. You have support. Anything you need, this community has your back. It’s so special.”
View this post on InstagramA post shared by S T E L L E R (@stellersounds)
TWLOHA is a nonprofit striving to offer hope and help for anyone struggling with mental health challenges. They build bridges by connecting people to local and affordable options for care. To build a bridge, you need hands on deck. That’s why it’s a priority for TWLOHA to get boots on the ground.
“We like to show up where we feel most alive,” said Chad Moses, TWLOHA's Director of Outreach. "Music is a place where we’re reminded that it’s okay to find things worth singing about. There are things in life worth screaming about. There are things in life worth dancing about. And there are things in life worth sharing with other people. The reason this tour happens and why these festivals happen is that people show up. For a lot of us, music is the place we run towards to make sense of our lives.”
“You showing up to a show changes everything about that place, physically and metaphysically… You showing up in that room changes how that sounds," Moses continues. "That’s how physics and music work. Your body will make that room sound different. That night would be utterly changed without you there. That’s the case for your life and your community. You are irreplaceable. You are the only-est you here. That’s a resource worth our admiration and worth finding ways to sustain.”
It’s a serendipitous pairing. The essence of raving is beautifully in lockstep with mental health advocacy: mutual and self-acceptance, camaraderie and a universal desire to heal.
“The times you’ll go to a rock show and you see a ton of people, if they’re not in the pit doing a lot of moving, everyone else is on the edge, arms crossed,” Moses explains. “I can’t recall ever seeing arms crossed at an EDM show. You’re invited to react. You’re invited into that movement. So much of it is that your presence is part of the show.”
“The times I can zoom out of these live experiences and see how many ravers, how many folks are making eye contact with one another. It’s something you don’t get at so many of these other genre shows.”
Moses can hardly find his belongings under a sea of kandi bracelets, googly-eyed rings, 3D printed dinosaurs, rubber duckies and sprouts. To the uneducated eye, it’s quirky. But anyone with a keepsake box of rave trinkets understands its true value.
“You have this premium put on getting back in touch with a more innocent, playful part of yourself,” Moses said. “We’ve forgotten how to play. We’ve forgotten the joy of giving a little gift. Somewhere along the way, we learn that the value of a little trinket we give someone is based on the price tag… Little stuff that has no monetary value, except that it made me smile.”
Music is a fundamental constant in Steller’s healing journey. It’s a powerful tool for achieving presentness and channeling her human experience. Having caught the rave bug well before becoming an electronic music producer, her impending tour offers the perfect setting to cultivate the roots of raving’s healing agenda.
“Music is my meditation and flow state,” Steller explains. “A lot of times I feel scatterbrained, chaotic, anxious and in my head. It’s really grounding to create and express myself in that way. It’s why I was so keen to partner with To Write Love On Her Arms. I’m so happy we made that happen. I love what they stand for, their message and what they’re doing. I’ve known about them for.”
“Music and creativity are iterative,” Moses adds, threading the needle between music and mental health. “Steller, you did not create the idea of bass music. At some point, you saw someone do that and thought, ‘Wow, I love that! I wonder how it would sound through my lens?’”
Mental health is a deeply personal struggle requiring commitment from the person at its epicenter. That internal turmoil can spawn the misunderstanding that mental health is a one-on-one fight. It isn't.
“We’re not inviting you to invent what sobriety looks like, or what recovery looks like, or what it looks like to see a counselor,” Moses said. “We want you to trust that other people have been down this road. We want you to see their stories and believe this could be true for you also if it’s something you’re curious about.”
Steller’s mental health journey wasn’t conquered solo. Music is a powerful weapon in her arsenal, but it’s one instrument in a deeper tool belt forged with experienced guidance.
“I’ve been in therapy for years, almost coming up on 10 years,” Steller said. “It’s such an important part of my life. I was very closed off when I started doing it. I was scared and didn’t feel comfortable talking to anyone about my problems. But I knew talking to someone was the first step in my healing process. I’ve had really intense anxiety my whole life.
“I feel I have so many tools. I can control my thoughts and emotions better. I can show up for people better. I now look forward to my therapy sessions. In the past, I was scared and I wouldn’t sleep the night before. I’d think, ‘Oh my gosh! She’s going to make me get in touch with my emotions! I’ll have to go to this dark place!’ But it’s so important to feel it, talk about it and have someone there who supports you. Healing is a journey. I’m still on that journey, but I’m in such a better place than I was 10 years ago. I’m grateful for all that.”
Steller’s commitment to tending her mental garden bears fruit privately and professionally. At her therapist’s recommendation, she adopted the “just do it” mantra when she’s scared to draw attention to herself. A frightening proposition, perhaps, but repetition is impressively formidable.
“It creates this magical cycle and your fears start dissipating,” Steller explained. “Even if people say it’s cringe, it doesn’t matter because you’ve trained that muscle and you trust yourself. Taking baby steps with whatever it is that’s holding someone back, it’s crazy how the world will respond to that. It will have your back. You need to take the leap and do it.”
The slogan "work hard, play hard" lends itself well to electronic music's heart-thumping, hip-swinging and head-banging energy. However, the familiar motto needs tweaking. Work and fun are valuable, but if someone works and plays hard, they can heal just as feverishly.
“We get to be reminded that life is a serious thing, and so we should also play seriously,” Moses said. “We should get back in touch with the moments where our best friend can be the stranger we just met on the bus. Life was so much simpler before we learned how to be afraid. Before we learned what our ego is and all the things we have to do to protect it.”
“But if we can just drop that for a second and acknowledge the beauty of existing and one another, it makes it so much easier for me to accept myself. We are so much harder on ourselves than the greater world is. You deserve to have your own back. You deserve to be proud when someone sees you and smiles, that there’s something about you that’s utterly irreplaceable. I think EDM gives us an invitation to remind us of what joy feels like.”

If pure nostalgia had a bassline, it might sound like "Ups and Downs," the long-awaited collaboration between Tape B and Effin.
Equal parts warmth and wobble, the retro-inspired track had been building momentum since Tape B's sold-out debut headline at the Hollywood Palladium, and it delivers on that promise with a stunning track that encapsulates the best of both Tape B and Effin.
Oozing with a bass-forward edge, "Ups and Downs" opens by virtue of a textured intro with shimmering keys and a sultry sax pattern. The track's hypnotic vocals, crooning "when we were young, we were in love," glide above deep bass, punchy drums and the kind of warped, wobbly synths that define both producers' catalogs.
Known for his old school-meets-new school approach, Tape B, a rising star in the dubstep world, was recently named to the EDM.com Class of 2025. Meanwhile, Effin has grown into one of the electronic music community's most gifted sound designers, reinforcing his reputation as an innovator by blending bass music with vintage folk and blues.
As both artists gear up for major summer shows at Bonnaroo, Shambhala and the Brooklyn Mirage, among others, "Ups and Downs" is primed to become a staple in their live sets.

Editor's Note [April 15, 3:20pm CST]: The death toll from the catastrophic collapse of the Jet Set nightclub has risen to 231. This article has been updated accordingly.
The roof of Jet Set, a popular nightclub in the Dominican Republic, collapsed early Tuesday morning and killed at least 124 people, CNN reports. The death toll has nearly doubled to 231 a week after the disaster, Dominican Interior Minister Faride Raful told reporters.
The deadly collapse occurred in the capital of Santo Domingo before 1am Tuesday during a performance by popular merengue artist Rubby Pérez, whose body was recovered Wednesday morning, according to emergency services officials.
Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the Emergency Operations Center, reported that 145 people had been rescued alive from the rubble. However, the full extent of the catastrophe remains unclear, with the number of people still buried unknown. Approximately 300 people were inside the venue when the roof gave way.
Video recorded from inside the club and shared on social media appears to capture the terrifying moment of collapse, showing lights falling from the ceiling seconds before the roof came down, followed by screams.
At 12:34 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025 the roof of the Jet Set Nightclub, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic collapsed.
At least 113 people were killed and another 155 injured including Nelsy Cruz, governor of the Monte Cristi province and former MLB players, Octavio Dotel and Tony… https://t.co/ZuQvb6ylG3 pic.twitter.com/CnxMxU7s9T
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that at least one American citizen and several U.S. residents were among the dead. Former Major League Baseball players Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco also passed, with Dotel—a World Series Champion in 2011—dying en route to the hospital after being pulled alive from the rubble, according to Méndez.
The collapse has affected the families of prominent political figures as well. Nelsy Cruz, governor of the Monte Cristi province and relative of MLB All-Star Nelson Cruz, was confirmed dead by Dominican President Luis Abinader. Meanwhile, the son of Public Works Minister Eduardo Estrella remains among the missing.
Outside the destroyed nightclub on Wednesday, distraught families gathered, clinging to hope that their loved ones might still be found alive as rescue workers methodically worked through the debris. Of the 124 confirmed fatalities at Jet Set, 33 bodies have yet to be identified, per CNN.
"We deeply regret the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub," Abinader said in a statement released on X. "We have been following the incident minute by minute since it occurred. All relief agencies have provided the necessary assistance and are working tirelessly in the rescue efforts. Our prayers are with the affected families."
Authorities have not yet determined what caused the structural failure at the venue.
Coachella is back, and so are the influencers pretending to like music. Fortunately, you don't need to risk heatstroke or a $25 grilled cheese to join the fun because the entire festival can be streamed live with Wi-Fi that actually works.
Once a seedbed for musical discovery, Coachella in 2025 is more of a clout-chasing Renaissance fair where flower crowns never die, but your dignity might. Still, we keep coming back, for the music, the memes and the annual tradition of roasting it all from our air-conditioned couches.
Whether you're here for the headliners or the chaotic crowd shots, Coachella remains peak content—cringe and all. The festival's simulcast, which comprises livestreams of seven different stages, is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 11th at 7pm PT (4pm ET).

After teasing fans with a series of riddles and hidden coordinates, acclaimed electronic music producer and visual artist Of The Trees has confirmed the rumors: he's hosting a rare, one-time summer event in Telluride, Colorado.
Set for August 22-23, 2025 at the picturesque Telluride Town Park, the show marks the long-awaited return of electronic dance music to Telluride following Pretty Lights' two-day run in 2015.
Of The Trees' official announcement comes after he shared a cryptic riddle on April 3rd, teasing the event's location before fans quickly cracked the code by deciphering coordinates emblazoned on a pair of pants (Latitude: 37.93437, Longitude: -107.80720). Days later, he confirmed the event's dates and location on social media.

Revered in electronic music circles for his innovative approach to audiovisual production, Of The Trees elevates the typical live music experience to new heights, like in last year's scintillating Red Rocks headline show.
The EDM.com Class of 2024 star will curate the experience in Telluride, nestled within a box canyon against the stunning backdrop of the San Juan Mountains. The event, a rare opportunity to experience his signature sound in a dramatic setting with mountain peaks of up to 14,000 feet, will also offer camping, allowing attendees to fully immerse themselves in the city's natural surroundings.
The moment is not lost on Of The Trees, who says he's eager to create something special in such an iconic location.
"My team and I are incredibly excited to bring a concert experience to a location where the natural beauty is perhaps an even bigger centerpiece to the experience than the show itself," he said in a statement. "This is the beginning of realizing the dream I’ve always had of hosting events that bring people together to a place where nature and music are intertwined in a way such as this."
A lineup has not yet been announced at the time of this writing. Additional details and ticketing phases will be revealed in the days ahead, according to a press release shared with EDM.com.

Levity and NITTI have joined forces for their first collaboration, "Like This," fusing trap with twisted basslines for a high-energy anthem.
Out now via Ultra Records, "Like This" kicks off with a hard-hitting beat and provocative vocals that command attention. The collaboration wastes no time, quickly charging toward an explosive drop that melts into a chaotic bassline. Here, Levity’s funky bass style and NITTI’s boundary-pushing production shine through a relentless onslaught of playful wubs and distorted sound design.
For Levity, "Like This" serves as another preview of their upcoming EP following the success of their single "Postman" and sold-out "Full Circle Tour." With performances lined up at Bonnaroo and Shambhala, among other major festivals, the EDM.com Class of 2024 trio are reinforcing themselves as one of the today's most exciting acts in electronic music.

Influential trance music producer Ilan Bluestone capped his electrifying Dreamstate festival set over the weekend by trading his usual behind-the-decks position for one knee.
The Anjunabeats stalwart ended his performance on April 5th by bringing onstage his now-fiancée, Anisa Alvarado. As his 40th birthday cake rolled out, Bluestone orchestrated the ultimate crescendo by proposing to her before a crowd of euphoric festival-goers.

The British DJ, whose soaring productions have become staples in the global trance community, shared the moment on social media. For a guy who makes crowds feel big emotions every night, his own nerves caught him off guard.
"At the end of my Dreamstate set, right as my 40th birthday cake came out, I got on one knee and asked the biggest question of my life. I was nervous and had no idea what I was doing but she said YES!" Bluestone wrote. "To the love of my life, thank you for making that moment everything."

Because sweet dreams are made of cheese, Eventbrite has announced what the company is calling the first-ever "Cheese Rave," a melty collision of artisanal tasting and electronic dance music.
Television personality Antoni Porowski, the food and wine expert on Netflix's Queer Eye series, has lent his culinary credibility. He's serving as tastemaker for the free event, which embodies what Eventbrite is calling "nichecore," the fusion of seemingly disconnected passions into one gooey, pulsating experience.
The company is tapping into a cultural crave wave here. Eventbrite's recent "Fourth Spaces" study revealed that 95% of 18-to-35-year-olds are increasingly craving experiences that bring their online interests into real life. Their research also indicated that 79% seek out events that blend disparate interests into unique social experiences.
"Cheese and electronic music might seem like an odd pairing—and it is! But they both inspire passion and sensory joy," Porowski said in a statement.
The "Cheese Rave" concept is a compelling cultural hybrid, a fondue melting pot neither wholly foodie fantasy nor purely club kid paradise. After walking through a "massive cheese installation" welcoming guests inside, they'll begin with a curated tasting experience from Metro Cheese Club, who will keep the spread full from the moment the DJs start playing at 8:30pm until the 1am close. Attendees can enjoy two complimentary beverages from a drink menu selected to pair with the cheese, and vegan options and gluten-free crackers will also be available.
The event follows in the footsteps of other campy rave offshoots, like the ones inspired by Shrek, SpongeBob SquarePants and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. And it marks just the beginning of Eventbrite's series of boundary-blurring experiences after their launch of "It-Lists," curated recommendations from cultural tastemakers, including Porowski, that help locals discover events matching their interests.
"What makes these mashup events special is that they create spaces where different vibes and interests blend naturally," Porowski added. "You'll meet others who get what you're into, even if what you're into doesn't fit into just one box; because at the end of the day, it's about connection."
The "Cheese Rave" is scheduled for April 17th in Bushwick. Tickets are exclusively available on Eventbrite.
Fresh off the the announcement of another blockbuster Red Rocks set and the release of a 34-track album, Skrillex is once again facing the challenge of demand far outpacing access—and he's not taking it lightly.
Few expected Skrillex’s triumphant return to Red Rocks to spark a conversation about the future of ticketing. Minutes after tickets went on sale for his five-hour set on May 13th, resale listings began flooding the internet, many asking hundreds over face value.
Bots and scalpers had struck again. Rather than let the situation unfold in silence, Skrillex took to X with a message for his fans. "I’m sorry to the people who try to buy my tickets get taken advantage of by scalpers," he wrote. "It’s beyond upsetting and makes me feel terribly."
I’m sorry to the people who try to buy my tickets get taken advantage of by scalpers. It’s beyond upsetting and makes me feel terribly.
— Skrillex (@Skrillex) April 5, 2025The show, announced following the release of his long-awaited album FCK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3, is among the most anticipated electronic concerts of the year. Following the legendary 2023 debut of the same five-hour Red Rocks performance format, expectations were high, and so was competition for tickets.
“My #1 focus before I ever book a tour again is to see how we can do much better at this," Skrillex continued.
Fans familiar with his 2023 Red Rocks show will recognize this isn’t just talk. That year, a similar surge of scalper activity led Skrillex and his team to actively recover a portion of the tickets and launch a new, fan-first distribution process through Fair AXS.
That model, which gave fans a registration window to buy tickets directly and securely, offered a glimpse of what a fairer ticketing future could look like—one Skrillex now appears committed to expanding as he looks ahead to more live shows.
"With that said I’m not complaining but I have some radical ideas for the future," he added. "In the meantime we are doing everything we can to get fairly priced tickets in your hands."
