Winnie Ruth Judd reached notoriety in Phoenix, Arizona in 1931 when she was stopped at an LA train station with two dead bodies in trunks. The victims were Judd’s former roommates, Agnes Anne LeRoi and Hedvid “Sammy” Samuelson. She was promptly extradited back to Arizona to stand trial. While she was charged and found guilty of the murder of Agnes LeRoi, many don’t believe she had anything to do with the crime. Winnie Ruth Judd’s case has turned into a local conspiracy theory with many believing if she was guilty of anything, it was of either self-defense or disposing of a body and that in fact the real perpetrator was none other than “Happy” Jack Halloran. Halloran was a giant in the lumber business at the time with many ties to prominent local people with power. Was Winnie made out to be a scapegoat? Or is she truly deserving of the name The Trunk Murderess?

Henry Lee Lucas rose to infamy after being arrested for the murder of Frieda "Becky" Powell and Kate Rich. What followed was not what police excepted. For close to three years Henry lee Lucas offered up 3,571 confessions, some of which implicated his partner Ottis Toole. Of those, police believed 650 of them to be reputable and cleared the cases. The investigative work came under scrutiny later and it's due to these lies and retellings that we will never really know the truth about their crime spree.

Robert Hansen became known as The Butcher Baker after he abducted women from Anchorage, tortured them, then "set them free" in the wilderness where he would later hunt them. Robert Hansen confessed to 17 murders but authorities believe it could be upwards of 20 or more. Due to the stigma around his victim's line of work, the temperatures, and time it took for Hansen to get caught, we may never know all the horrific details of his crime spree in the Alaskan wilderness.

Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested earlier this month in connection with Jeffrey Epstein and his sex ring. A grand jury indictment shows they indicted her on six charges; conspiracy to persuade minors into engaging in sexual acts and transporting minors with the purpose of criminal sexual activity.
