H.H. Holmes is more myth than man. He's often labeled as the first documented American serial killer responsible for possibly 200 murders taking place in The Castle during Chicago's World's Fair. But that's hardly the case. While H.H. Holmes did murder at least 9 people, defraud many, and own a building he dubbed The Castle, his story isn't as prolific as we've been led to believe. Thanks to Holmes' own lies, yellow journalism, and a game of generational telephone, the real story of H.H. Holmes is far grander than reality.
Pour yourself a drink, sit back, and listen to the disappointing story of H.H. Holmes.
