Rand is setting up stuff in Arad Doman while Cadsuane and Nynaeve are frustrated by Semirhage's ability to resist their questioning.

Rodel Ituralde comes face to face with General Turan, leader of the Seanchan army that chased him into Arad Doan and fell for his trap.

Egwene helps save Leane from a bubble of evil and continues her silent war from within the White Tower.

In the meantime, the Aiel arrive at Rand's temporary post in Arad Doman and Rand instructs them to kidnap the Domani Merchant Council so he can coerce them into electing a new king in Alsalam's absence.

Siuan finally admits to Bryen why she broke her oath, and the two come to an agreement. Later Siuan relays all the news regarding the Forsaken and the Asha'man bonding to Ewgene in Tel'aran'rhiod.

In Malden, Perrin is preparing his huge party of soldiers and refugees to get out of Dodge before the other Shaido forces arrive.

And finally, Rand goes alone to meet with Rodel Ituralde and recruit him to the Dragon's cause.

It's a brand new day and a brand new book. Also, a brand new author!

There are ominous signs of the last battle in the Borderlands and people are starting to see the writing on the wall. Rand sends a message to Ebou Dar, Tylee and Mishima meet their first Trollocs, Graendal is privy to some dressing down of Demandred and Mesaana at the hands of Moridin, Rodel Ituralde pulls the trigger on the next phase of his grand plan against the Seanchan, and Masema meets up with Faile. And that's just in the prologue!

Also: Rand's Aes Sedai struggle to interrogate Semirhage while Egwene finally achieves her goal of dealing with pain like the Aiel do. This after a really upsetting meeting with Elaida.

Speaking of Aiel, Aviendha feels stuck and somewhat perplexed by the Wise Ones' treatment and witholding of actual teachings, and finally we check in with the most confused man in the world: Gawyn Trakand.

We then switch to Elaine who sets in motion her completely foolhardy plan to capture the Black Ajah sisters in Caemlyn, but gets kidnapped herself. More deaths, more tears but the Sea Folk finally earn their keep

There's action at the rebel Aes Sedai camp as Romanda, of all people, pieces together the "Halima" situation after an impactful visit from Merise and Narishma.

Then Egwene is completely bossing the White Tower from within, setting in motion all sorts of plans, resisting and confounding the Aes Sedai and winning over all the novices.

Elaida on the other hand has completely lost touch with reality.

And finally Mat is reunited with Talmanes after leaving the menagerie! Rejoice!

Nynaeve tricks Lan into fulfilling his destiny regarding the Golden Crane.

In Tear Rand meets the nobles in The Stone and Loagin delivers a message to the Seafolk leaders, right before they get the news of the mass Amayar suicide.

Things are hotting up, big time!
