We have yet another guest on the Bloody Good Film Podcast. About a month ago the more handsome and witty host of our podcast (Josh) guested on Secular Sexuality and discovered that the host, Christy Powell had a bone to pick with the Top Gun movies. Since we here at the Bloody Good Film Podcast enjoy a friendly argument (I swear the arguments are friendly and if you don't think so you're just not very smart), we decided to invite Christy on to lay down his case.

First movie we're feeling the need, the need for speed as we fly into the DANGER ZONE and dig into the first film in this high-flying franchise TOP GUN. It's mustaches and beach volleyball all the way as we follow our dangerous lead against the cool as ice... ICEMAN. You'll be waving your flag and signing up for the Navy by the time the credits roll... 

It's 35 years since the original Top Gun and the Navy needs some sweet sweet recruits. Lets get that Top Gun machine rolling. No need for a new script. Why fix what ain't broke? We're flying back into the Danger Zone again with Top Gun: Maverick.

We'll go over these two films and try to figure out whether the Top Gun Franchise is made up of BLOODY GOOD FILMS.

We've done 80 episodes of the podcast and we're just now getting to a Sam Raimi film? That's gotta be some kind of strike against us as horror fans right? I mean it's an action and horror podcast but that makes it 50% horror right? I'm not a math wizard but that sounds right. Well of course we're gonna rectify this situation by covering his magnum opus, Evil Dead right? NOOOO! In this episode we're covering his 2009 classic Drag Me To Hell, and we're gonna find out if a PG-13 horror movie can actually be good, and not some lame studio cash grab.

But before we drag ourselves into that movie we need to talk the trailers that caught our eyes this week. There's a new Orphan movie out and it's starring the same actress as the original. Surely a 24 year old can be a convincing child in this prequel to the original (which was filmed when she actually was a child.) 

And then there's a new movie coming out called Fall. We'll talk about whether we're falling all over it or if this single location thriller is gonna fall flat on it's face. 
And of course as always after the main talk we're gonna rate whether or not Drag Me to Hell is... A BLOODY GOOD FILM.

Well it finally happened, we had a week of scheduling mishaps. But luckily we came prepared with a MARVELous idea. Back in November 2021 we recorded this emergency back up episode, and we're release sing it to you now!

We've made it clear that we won't cover any MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) films on the podcast... but we never said we wouldn't cover them all. So that's the lawyer trick (thanks Mr. Murdock) that we used to get around our Bloody Good Film Podcast guidelines to bring you this episode. We tried our best to keep this evergreen but you may find a few hints of assumptions gone wrong since this recording.

You'll be THORy if you don't download this episode as we're taking it all the way through to phase 4.

This may be the only time when we're putting the focus on the MCU so make sure to sound off in the comics... er comments and let us know your thoughts on it as a whole and whether we're way off base or have the greatest opinions.

At the end of the previous episode we promised that we'd have an expert on to talk about the Legend of Bigfoot. Well we lied, and we're not sorry about it. This week we forge into the woods alone and talk about the hairy beast the stalks the woods but before we do that we needed to talk about things that caught our attention.

Did you know there was a new Predator movie coming out? Did you know that they called it Prey? That could definitely be confusing when you're perusing the aisle of your local Blockbuster; but good thing it's 2022 and Blockbuster has been rotting in its grave for years. We're talking our impression of the trailer for the movie coming out soon on Hulu.
You know what else is new? There's a Rob Zombie Munster movie, and we finally have footage worth talking about. Let us know where you lie on the discussion for what will surely be the peak of Rob Zombie's career.

Once the trailer talk is over its time for the main feature, and this week it's the Bobcat Goldthwait found footage movie, Willow Creek. We're about to find out if there is room in the genre for another found footage film that involves campers getting lost in the woods. Though when things start to get a little hairy, there isn't a witch to blame. We'll dig into this film and at the end ask... Is Willow Creek a Bloody Good Film?

This week's episode is monstrous as we take on not one, but two Kajui movies with a total of five monsters. Our first movie will is the legendary first crossover between the butt kicking Queen of infant Island Mothra, and the very hungover king of the late night bender Godzilla, in Mothra Vs Godzilla. We watched as Godzilla stumbled around like a dang fool, and Mothra was forced to beat some sense into him. There are human characters in this film too, but the only interesting ones are about 6 inches tall.

After that we decided to go more modern and talk the 2014 film Godzilla. If you've seen the trailers and you're ready to see a Bryan Cranston lead adventure against the might of Godzilla you are in for a major surprise. See how we try to translate the material from the classic guy in a rubber suite series, into a CGI special effects driven vehicle.

This week on the podcast we're discussing the man, the legend, Josh Entner. We're also talking about decently well-known filmmaker, John Carpenter. Where most podcasts would settle for talking such stapples such as Halloween or the Thing; we here at the podcast decided to suck it up and cover John Carpenter's Vampires.
