Ever notice how much easier it is to point at a person and say, “YOU are the problem”? Yeah, me too. But here’s the truth: people aren’t the problem—problems are the problem. And when we stop confusing the two, everything gets lighter, easier, and way more solvable.
In this episode of the Bloom Your Mind Podcast, we’re going one layer deeper into conflict resolution and flipping the script: instead of making the person the issue, we learn how to sit shoulder-to-shoulder and face the actual issue together.
We’ll cover:
Spoiler: once you stop turning people into villains and start tackling the real problem, you’ll save yourself a ton of drama, resentment, and late-night imaginary arguments in the shower. You’ll also have WAY more time to focus on making your ideas real.
✨ Your homework: Identify one spot in your life where you’ve been making a person the problem. Reframe it into a problem problem instead, then try out the “same side of the table” approach. Bonus points if you use humor to call out the real monster.
✨ Share this episode with someone you love who might be making you the problem 😉

We are all changing. Sometimes we’re doing it on purpose- setting goals that require us to think and feel and act differently, goals that require us to evolve and grow. Sometimes we’re changing in reaction to the world and the people around us. The one thing we know for sure is that change is constant… and sometimes really hard. With change often comes conflict; with ourselves and with others. Since change is guaranteed, and conflict will come with it; why not get really good at navigating our way through it? When we do, conflict becomes incredibly valuable. When we learn that we are not the hero, the good gal, the one in the right, or the virtuous one, we open a whole new capacity for calm, leadership, and love. When we realize many things are true at once, we open up rich, connecting, flourishing relationships and a world where all our ideas can become real.
That’s what today’s episode is all about.
Over the past two years I have been approached to be a conflict resolution mediator for couples, families, friends, entrepreneurs, executive teams and CEOs- each one leading to referrals for more. It’s led me to deep dive into research, and tool finding. Today I’ll share my favorite tools to help you step out of conflict and into flourishing.

With a cup of melted ice cream in my hand, I waited for a group of kids to explore a book store, staring in the window at the best sellers. That was the day I found an author whose prose gave me a week of both mind-swooning entertainment and a jolting moment of reflection.
She wrote about giving our time and energy to things that fill us with passion and motivation. That fill our minds the moment we open our eyes in the morning, and fill our souls with purpose and life. Everything I’ve created in the last five years of thought leadership is about this idea. I’ve created podcasts and books, programs and coaching groups to helping people find where and how their passion can take form. We all want to find it.
So why do we so often find ourselves pulled off track by the passion and motivation of others? If you’ve ever found yourself working too hard at a job or in a volunteer position, giving too much to the family or relationships that you serve, this episode is for you.

This episode is the joyful, slightly reckless little sister to episode 72, “The Freedom of a Hard No.” Because once we get clear on what doesn’t serve us…we open up all kinds of space in our brain, our schedule, and our sense of safety for possibilities and new ideas that can expand our life.
This past month I had a series of invitations from folks I didn’t know that well to visit them in different states. Before I knew it, those invitations had strung themselves together into a necklace of adventure— it was the possibility of a two-week road trip in an electric car, zigzagging across state lines by myself with two kids, to visit people I barely knew, and sleep in houses I’d never seen.
I didn’t ignore the red flags—like range anxiety for an EV car with kids in the backseat, driving through states without many chargers and through wide open national park spaces that require all day trip. I also didn’t discount my concerns about taking my kids to stay environments I didn’t know with people I’d met once, or maybe even never met.
I didn’t ignore those things, but I got curious about them. What followed was one of the most magical, spontaneous, soul-sparking journeys I’ve had yet.
That trip was only possible because I said yes.
Yes to a possibility.
Yes to the discomfort of not having control.
Yes to new people, new rhythms, and new roads.
What happens to our brains, bodies and our lives when we say yes to new ideas? That’s what we’ll find out today.

I was with a group of friends, when one of them approached me and said “Your daughter just said something that blew my mind. She said that you told her that when she has a crush on someone, it’s just for her.”
“Yes,” I said, “I sure did tell her that- don’t you agree?”
“Well I’ve never thought of it like this. She said that you told her that she can just have the feeling of a crush on someone, and she doesn’t have to tell the person, because it’s actually none of their business! And that when she felt the feeling of a crush on someone she doesn’t ever have to tell them or anyone else, she doesn’t ever have to act on it in any way, and it doesn't mean anything about her or the other person except that some part of her really likes some part of them…so there’s never a problem with having a crush, it’s always a positive thing!”
“You told her that her crush on them is not FOR them. It’s for HER.”
She looked at me with wide eyes, and the other adults standing around us started saying how much they loved this idea.
“And”, she said, “I just thought about how much I wish someone had explained it to me like that when I was younger, and how different my experience of my own life would have been back then if I thought my crushes were for me. And how that would be true of other things too. That if I knew they were happening for me, it would all be different.”
And the adults standing around us all nodded in agreement, and shared their own stories.
Our crushes are not the only thing happening for us. Every single other feeling we have about someone else is really and truly just for us too. And each thing that happens in our life is only for us, when we see it that way.

After six months of an injury that was dramatically lowering the quality of my life, I gave up on doctors as the solution to my problem, and took matters into my own hands.
I started on a deep dive of research and exploration into blood sugar and inflammation, energy levels and functional movement. I read books, did interviews, and took courses with experts. I wore continuous glucose monitors and started tracking my sleep cycles.
The things that I learned from this deep dive into my body has changed my life. My pain has reduced by 90%, my inflammation is gone, mobility is up, and my energy feels stable and vibrant all day long. The Blood Sugar Magic episode is the second in a two part series sharing the best of what I’ve learned with you.

Last week’s episode lifted the curtain on the five things that get in the way of people turning their ideas into real things. The top two reasons are hard core idea killers! We have a ready made solution for idea killer number one, and that solution is the Bloom Room. The idea killer is that people don’t have an accountability system to help them achieve their dream. Your success rate goes to 65% if you have an accountability partner, and that rate goes up to 95% if you meet with that accountability partner or group once a week and check in. Enter the Bloom Room! Just by joining and checking in once a week on your goal, you’ll be 95% more likely to make it real.
But what about idea killer number two? The culprit is that we keep our ideas vague and undefined instead of making them trackable things that have to pass the rubric of our passion, our authentic desires and our values. They have to be ideas articulated as goals that we celebrate, calendar, and measure as we go. In today’s episode we’ll break down a new take on an old way of thinking about goals.
