You need passion for the work Jesus has given you. It comes from understanding His passion for you.

Main Point- Hardship goes before glory, so we must endure hardship.--1- Remember Christ - he set the example of hardship then glory v8-2- Remember Paul - he endured in his hardship for the glory of the elect v9-10-3- Remember the early church - they memorised this trustworthy saying to help them endure hardship and remind them of the glory ahead. v11-13

Main Point-To be loyal to the gospel you have to endure hardships which is only possible by the strength given by the grace of God. --1. You rely on the grace of God to endure and to give you strength for each day v1-2. You endure hardships by being mentored and being a mentor for others v2-3. You endure hardships like that of the soldier who doesn't compromise v3-4-4. You endure hardships like that of the athlete who always obeys v5-5. You endure hardships like that of the hard-working farmer v6

As a Christian you are in the unique position to enjoy your work as you recognize that you work for the Lord Jesus.

God cares for His creation through the work of all people. Celebrate God's work wherever you see it and offer yourself to His service.

Paul challenges Timothy not to be ashamed of the gospel but be loyal to it. And so we are to see that God calls us whatever the cost to be loyal to the gospel.--1- You are to be prepared that following Christ will come at a cost v8--2- You are to hold fast to the gospel v13-14--3- You are to follow the example of those who are loyal to the gospel v15-18--4- Your confidence to be loyal to Christ is because of the power of the Holy Spirit working in you.

Main Point- How are you being an influence in this church to see others grow and mature and so take positions of leadership- --1- Have a positive attitude in church for you have the promise of life v1 -2- See the gospel message as the most important message v2-3- Pray for leadership from within the church v3-4-4- Be an example of genuine faith to your family v5-5- Encourage the fanning into flame the gift of God within the church v6-7

The gospel of Jesus creates a new story for the world- approach your work in light of the truth.

Jesus came to save His elect people from their sins. Thank God that Jesus WILL save every one of His people from their sins.

Your tendency to twist God's good gifts impacts your work, but Jesus liberates you to be the person God made you to be.
