I've learned a lot over the last two years. Some of it has been simple lessons that I caught onto quickly, some not so quickly, and still, others have cost me a lot of time and money. If you don't have to, I don't want you to go through the pain I went through in some of these cases!
Whether you just started a business or you are a 20+ year veteran, the lessons in this episode will be helpful for you. Some will be reminders and others may be new to you. Either way, when it comes to running a small business we never stop learning and growing. Here are the ten lessons I learned.
Meet with people consistently.
Ask for referrals.
Look for opportunities that stretch you professionally.
Look for opportunities that stretch you personally.
Pursue experts in your field.
Block your time and protect your time.
Use LinkedIn to connect with people "digitally".
Realize for most of us, social media is a waste of money but not a waste of time.
Get a software tool to track your customer interactions.
Get into a rhythm with your workday and stick with it.
Reflect on your life and work on a weekly basis so you know you are in alignment with your vision and values.
