It was a cold autumn night on November 6th 2019. The spirits were lively as it was the first night of the Southside Podfest. The Bob After Dark team was one of the groups opening the show and boy it was spooky. Come listen to the never before heard live recording of one of Chicagos most famous ghost stories. The Italian Bride. Live from the Southside Podfest. We had a blast at this festival, and had everyone there. The Italian Bride story is one of Chicago’s most famous ghost stories. In short, The Bride is buried at Mt. Carmel cemetery. Upon her death, her mother was haunted by dreams saying that she was still alive and needed help. Getting permission to dig up the grave, the body was in no way in any state of decay. This is also the origin story of the Easter Island Massacre!
We have a round table full house in this episode. Pro wrestler and paranormal investigator, Steve Michaels joins us as we do an abridged reading of Charles Dickens story, "A Christmas Carol". One of the most famous ghost stories ever told. Even Count Panek gets involved as each person takes a reading from one of the ghosts. We finish up the episode by looking at Scrooge's hauntings from an investigation stand point. What sorts of ghosts were they? Demonic, Deity, Intelligent? Or perhaps...just a figment of Scrooge's imagination. Merry Holidays everyone!
A couple weeks back we looked at the goat demon known as Krampus. The anti-Santa. As scary as he is, we look at a figure probably even scarier than him. Frau Pertcha is well…a Christmas nightmare. Imagine being bad, and instead of being whisked away by Krampus, you are killed in your bed. To be ripped open, and have your insides being replaced with rocks. Frau is well…scary. She is a mostly forgotten part of Christmas traditions past. Only to rediscovered by your rag-tag team of podcast hosts. This episode may not be the most suitable for our younger audiences.
In a far off place called Italy, they believe their gifts comes from a witch. Why a witch? In this episode, the boys are looking at La Befana. A witch, whom getting lost on her way to the birth of Christ, ended up staying where she was and handing out toys to the children. This episode is a tear jerker for Anthony. Whom, at one point, lived in Italy, and celebrated the coming of La Befana.
