2019 was a rough season for Purdue Football filled with injuries, close losses, heart breaks and broken bones. It was so close to ending on a sweet note, but alas That School In Bloomington took our hopes and our bucket. With the season now over, we look at what happened and what to look forward to in 2020. 23 years ago today, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta kicked off, and they were...weird (hey, we're just living up to the name of our podcast). From constant product placements, single-use stadiums, and events being held by carvings of losers and racists from the Civil War. Oh, and did we mention the weird mascot, Izzy? Some of these may seem normal now, but the Atlanta Olympics started a new trend for the Olympic Games, with some of those starting to be scaled back.

With the Fourth of July this week and being in the thick of the MLB season, Travis and Paul reflect on baseball in the late-1800s, and some of the perils some players went through. Specifically, Moses Fleetwood Walker, one of the first black players in the league, and backlash he faced, especially from Chicago White Stockings player, Cap Anson (the White Stockings eventually became the Chicago Cubs). While often we discuss Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier, it was the presence of players like Fleetwood that led to the ban than Robinson eventually lifted. We decided to record a quick episode of the H&R Podcast as we react to Carsen being drafted by the 76ers (and then traded to the Celtics). The first half is basically just Travis and Juan being silly and waiting for Carsen to be drafted. Given some of the frustrations Purdue fans had last night as they waited, we figured you guys would enjoy some of our pre-selection banter.
