One of the largest banks in Great Britain has ended its investments in Elbit Systems, an Israeli weapons company, and activists say it's because of their protest actions against the bank. The group Palestine Action has been targeting corporations that profit from Elbit Systems due to Israel's treatment of Palestinians for several years. In the past year, Palestine Action has carried out over 50 actions against Barclays, one of the largest banks in Great Britain, due to its investments in Elbit Systems. The actions include spraying fake blood inside and outside bank buildings, locking the front doors to prevent access to the bank, and destroying bank property. Earlier this year, Palestine Action coordinated 20 attacks on Barclays in one night. In the latest US Securities and Exchange Commission filings, Barclays owned zero shares in Elbit Systems, down 16,345 since the previous filing in May. Palestine Action has stated that this is due to their protest campaign. In august, when Barclay's relationship with Israel was in question, Israel's accountant general Yali Rothenberg told the media, "We appreciate the bank's statement affirming its continued commitment to the State of Israel."
Forbes magazine has reported that more millionaires and billionaires support Kamala Harris than Donald Trump. According to the report, 82 billionaires support Harris, compared to 52 who support Trump. In September, more than a dozen billionaires signed a public letter endorsing Harris, saying she would "continue to advance fair and predictable politics that support the rule of law and a sound business environment." A recent survey of millionaire investors conducted by the investment bank UBS found that 57% support Harris and 43% Trump, and identified technology and healthcare stocks as the sectors most likely to benefit from her presidency. Among Harris' largest supporters are Bill Gates and Mark Cuban, two of the richest people in the world, and many tech investors from Silicon Valley. Previously, Trump had claimed on social media that he had been endorsed by Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, one of the largest Wall Street banks. However, last week this claim was proven false, and the New York Times published an article saying that he had privately endorsed Harris, possibly in exchange for a position in her administration.
On Monday, an Israeli settlers organization held an event to promote the development of new illegal settlements in Gaza, which was attended by nearly one third of the lawmakers from Benjamin Netenyahu's Likud political party. The event was hosted by the Nachala Movement, an organization that facilitates the buying of homes for Jews who want to move to Israel. Settlement of the Gaza Strip has never been an official policy of Israel. Due to concerns of genocide and ethnic cleansing, the international community, including the US, has warned against the settlement of Gaza, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu has often said that it is not Israel's goal. However, Netenyahu has rejected all ceasefire proposals that would result in saving Israeli hostages from Hamas, calling into question his motives for his bombing campaign on Gaza. Earlier this week, videos on social media showed Israeli military vehicles transporting Palestinian kidnapped men and boys, in blindfolds, from their homes in Gaza to unknown locations. During the speeches given at the conference, Israeli bombs could be heard in the distance.
Journalists searched a hospital in Lebanon that the Israeli government said was being used by Hezbollah, and found that it was just a normal civilian hospital. In October of 2023, Israel bombed the al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza. Although bombing hospitals is a common procedure for the Israeli army, the increased media attention since October 7th 2023 resulted in public outrage regarding the bombing of al-Shifa. Israel had claimed that the hospital was actually secretly a headquarters for Hamas, but investigations after the bombing concluded that there was no evidence for the claims. In recent weeks, Israel has also bombed several hospitals in Lebanon. On Monday, Israel made a similar claim that Al Sahel Hospital in Beirut was "Hezbollah's private shelter" and that it held "hundreds of millions of dollars in paper money and gold." However, because Israel is unable to ban journalists from Lebanon in the same way it does in Gaza, journalists simply visited the hospital and conducted a search. Journalists from various news agencies, with their camera teams, confirmed that there is no evidence for Israel's claims and that Al Sahel is just a normal civilian hospital.

Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, is giving away a one million dollar prize to people who sign up to support his political organization. Musk founded a political action committee, or PAC, in order to ensure the election of Donald Trump for president in November. PACs are organizations that collect money to give to a political candidate and their campaign efforts in order to influence an election. The largest political action committee in the US is the National Association of Realtors, which donates between 3 and 4 million dollars to election campaigns. The fourth largest PAC is the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which, having been a powerful force in US elections since the 1980s, had relied on other PACs to manage its donations, until 2021 when it became its own PAC. On Saturday, Musk announced during an event in Pensylvania that registered voters who had signed a petition supporting his PAC would be eligible to win a one million dollar prize. He then gave a check to an audience member and vowed to the same in every swing state. Legal experts are concerned about the legality of the situation, but Musk is known for avoiding legal consequences.
During a Kamala Harris campaign event for Latino voters last week, a voter shared an emotional story about their undocumented mother, and Harris responded by talking about strengthening the border. The town-hall-style event was held in Las Vegas and was hosted by Univision. During the question and answer period, audience member Yvette Castillo told her story about being born in the US to Mexican parents, and that throughout her life she was only able to help her father's citizenship process, but not her mother's. Her mother died six weeks ago as a result of not having access to the health services she needed. Castillo then asked Harris: "What are your plans, or do you have plans, to support that subgroup of immigrants who have been here their whole lives, or most of them, and have to live and die in the shadows?" Harris responded by discussing the need for both political parties to work together on immigration issues. She then spent the rest of her response talking about the anti-immigrant border bill that she attempted to pass, which increases funding for border patrol agents. Harris often boasts about having received support from Republicans on this bill.
In the early hours of Monday morning, Israeli warplanes bombed a tent encampment on the grounds of Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah. The bombs burned the tents and caused a massive fire, killing or displacing the refugees who were living there. Videos on social media show people watching helplessly as their loved ones die in the fires, not being able to help, partly due to a lack of water. The Israeli government said that the camp was a "command center" for Hamas, and provided no evidence. Also on Monday, The New York Times published a report detailing how Israeli soldiers use Palestinians as human shields, because, unlike the Israeli Defense Forces, Hamas fighters do not shoot their own civilians. The report also interviews Palestinian detainees, including children, who were forced to search war zones for bombs in order to avoid the risk to the soldiers. Sky News, one of the largest British news networks, was widely criticized after publishing a social media post that read "Israel names teenage soldiers killed in Hezbollah drone attack." The post was criticized as propaganda because the news media typically does not mention the ages of soldiers who are killed as a headline.
On the same day last week, protests were held both against and in support of Sonoma County ballot Measure J, which would limit the amount of animals on commercial farms that meet certain criteria. Supporters of measure J argue that the amount of animals forced to live in large groups and in small areas is inhumane, and also bad for the environment. Only the 21 farms that are defined as Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, or CAFOs, would be affected by the measure. A CAFO is a farm with more than 700 dairy cows, 85,000 egg laying hens, or 125,000 chickens raised for meat. Opponents of the measure argue that the farms that would be affected are small and family-owned, and that workers would lose their jobs. Opponents include almost every city council member of County cities, the Democratic and Republican Parties of Sonoma County, the Sonoma County Sherriff's department, the North Bay Labor Council, and the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber of Commerce. Lynda Hopkins, Sonoma County Supervisor for the 5th district, said that Measure J is "bullshit."
Al Jazeera has published a documentary about how Israeli soldiers use social media to document the genocide they are committing. The film, titled "Investigating War Crimes in Gaza," contains several social media videos posted by Israeli soldiers in which they celebrate and boast about killing Palestinian civilians. Youmna ElSayed, one of the journalists who worked on the project, said during an interview that Israeli soldiers know that "that they are not even going to be condemned. (…) They are showing off how much they dehumanize Palestinians, how much they kill. They destroy their properties. They torture them and dehumanize them in different ways, whether they're children, they're men, they're women. They brag about it." Richard Sanders, the director of the film, said during an interview, "In the West, there is (…) the rhetoric (…) of 'it's complicated." Listen to Israelis. They don't think it's complicated. Their rhetoric is often overtly genocidal. It's certainly frequently all about ethnic cleansing." Israel's actions since October 7th, 2023 have come to be known as "the first live-streamed genocide."
