Historical Drama with The Boston Sisters

BONUS Episode | BRIDESHEAD [RE] REVISITED 40th Anniversary

Listen Later

BRIDESHEAD REVISITED was the DOWNTON ABBEY of its time. The miniseries premiered in the UK in 1981 and the U.S. in 1982 on PBS “Great Performances.”

This bonus podcast, “Brideshead [Re] Revisited,” features the recording from a Clubhouse conversation on January 21, 2022 where friends gathered to talk about Brideshead Revisited and why it resonates 40 years later. In the recording you’ll hear:

  • Wine recommendations from food, wine, and restaurant consultant Janet Cam to recreate a taste of the Brideshead era (Janet is featured in episode 12 of the podcast, “What We Love About Julia”)
  • Pop London boutique owner Shazia Saleem talk about fashion, influences and trends to watch for in Brideshead Revisited
  • Taquiena’s take on coming of age stories with the main characters
  • Memories of high school/college friends (Michon and Dawn E. Robinson) about watching Brideshead and meeting one of the actors in person.
  • Note: audio levels may vary.

Based on the 1945 novel by Evelyn Waugh, BRIDESHEAD REVISITED spans from the 1920s to the 1940s centering on the romantic attraction of Charles Ryder (Jeremy Irons) to the wealthy Anglo Catholic yet self-destructive Flyte family. Charles is seduced by the family’s charm through a close friendship with the 2nd son, Sebastian Flyte (Anthony Andrews), when Charles and Sebastian are both students at Oxford University.
