Steve Edmiston is an entertainment lawyer, founder of Burien, Washington’s Men in Black Birthday Bash Festival, and screenwriter of the short film “The Maury Island Incident.” Jason Mattson is Executive Director of the Lewis County Historical Museum in Chehalis, Washington. The two are part of a team participating in a debate taking place in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico on Friday, October 10, 2025 called “ROSWELL VS. WASHINGTON.”

The goal is to settle – maybe not for once and for all, but at least for one night – which part of the United States should rightfully be considered the de facto capitol and “O.G.” of the American UFO experience. Should it be Roswell, New Mexico – with its mysterious alien corpses and alleged U.S. Army cover-up - or should it be the Evergreen State of Washington – with its flying saucers and molten slag raining down from doughnuts in the sky, and those mysterious men in black?
