Samuel the Lamanite is an outlier in many ways. He’s an outsider - the only Lamanite prophet on record. His mission to the Nephites focuses on repentance and finding hope in the coming of Christ. His words will soften the hearts of a few and ignite violence in the hearts of others. As a Lamanite, he is a living witness of the power of repentance. His words are powerful, prophetic, and profoundly applicable for our day.

Questions to Consider:

Helaman 13:13-14 | Question: Where have you see this in your life? When have you seen the righteousness of one or a few provide protection for many?

Helaman 15:8 | What “thing” is Samuel referring to in this verse? What kind of freedom is this? Freedom from what exactly?

Helaman 16:1 | What did each man bring to the table? Why were both needed? Why didn’t Samuel do the baptizing? Why didn’t Nephi get on the wall? Where do you see this kind of tag-team work in the church today?
