  • Such a Bad Influence Part 3 (Ch 19-end)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

Candice and Chrissy wrap up possibly the twisty-est book ending yet! Candice catches Chrissy up on the past 12 years of pop culture references, including:

Young Kanye filming himself for future documentary when he makes it big (a la Evil Erin filming Evie 24/7??)

Paris Hilton's abusive boarding school (inspiration for Evie's retreat center??)

Chrissy, meanwhile, catches Candi up on the fact that Joshua Trees look like aliens. Candice, however, thinks they look like they're shaking maracas, so they're now called Fiesta Trees.

Let us know what you think of the (controversial?) ending and how you'd rank Erin, Evie, and Hazel on a scale of worst-best!

  • Such a Bad Influence Part 2 (7-18)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

Candice and Chrissy continue the mystery of SABI and still have no idea who the big bad is!! That doesn't keep them from spitballing new theories and making other crazy comparisons with classics such as The Housemaid and Abducted in Plain Sight. Candi also makes a reference to Lady Whistledown which completely went over Chrissy's head, but now that she's read the sentence long fan-wiki, she thinks it's a good reference.

  • Such a Bad Influence Part 1 (Ch 1-6)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

Candice and Chrissy tackle the first six chapters of Olivia Muenter's debut novel, Such a Bad Influence. They love it so much they skip the banter and get right into it! During the author recap, we discover Candi had the same childhood as Olivia and throughout the book we have fun seeing the fingerprints of 90's life (a la no bread). We theorize who the big bad is, talk about the influencer life, and discover that Pilates reformers really do look like torture devices.

  • Ella Enchanted Part 2 (Ch 20-end)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

Candice and Chrissy finish up their favorite childhood book and discover it's only gotten better with age.

    Some topics of interest include:

Does Mum Olga remind you more of Quina or of Barbara Jean?

Who's a worse father, Sir Peter or Count Olaf?

Why don't Ella and Mandy run away earlier?

How does Ella run not just in heels, but with only one heel?!?

And, an exclusive Q&A with the one and only, Gail Carson Levine!

  • Ella Enchanted Part 1 (Ch 1-19)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

Candice and Chrissy fangirl over their hero, Gail Carson Levine, and their favorite childhood book Ella Enchanted. We learn just what a Newberry is, discuss whether Ella was invading everyone's privacy with her fairy book and who the real villain of the story is. Mainly, though, we just gush over how much we love this book. We hope you love it too!

Book cover Chrissy definitely judged and returned to Amazon.

  • Starter Villain Part 4 (Ch 18-end)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

In the riveting final episode of Starter Villain, Candice and Chrissy discuss all the major plot points of the villain societies and talking dolphins. It doesn't take too long.

We break some new records on our end of book games and talk about why we want to be Hera and the perils of long COVID.

  • Starter Villain Part 3 (Chapters 14-17)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

Welcome back to Part 3 of our 4 Part series into John Scalzi's Starter Villain. No time has passed since the sisters started Part 2 & but Starter Villain's plot is finally picking up as Charlie has his first business meeting with Till (AKA Morrison). Charlie's wits are put to the test as he sniffs out the false success of nepo-babies that run the villain world, shows his ally-ship to women as he stands up for Till being competent enough to push a red button, and sees his cat-spies in action.

Chrissy gives her most authentic reaction to this segment as she didn't reach Chapter 17 which is where everything important & interesting happens

  • Starter Villain Part 2 (Chapters 8 - 13)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

The girlies waste no time getting into Part 2 of John Scalzi's Starter Villain. While not a lot happens in the book, aside from Charley going to Volcano Island to sit in an awkward HR powerpoint on how to be villain-y, dolphins who wish to unionize, & more cats using computers to speak, the sisters wonder why the humor looks so good on paper but seems to fall flat when reading.

Nearly 2/3s of the way through the book, this novel could be summarized so far as man attends a work orientation followed by a work conference.

  • Starter Villain Part 1 (Chapters 1-7)

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK

Welcome to our inaugural episode of John Scalzi's Starter Villain. The sister's are in the same zip code as Chrissy makes her journey to her new home. Even though the girlies tested mic's for well over an hour, it was to no avail and the audio quality of this episode is not up to our usual snuff (sorry!)

We take a look at some of our bookalytics, shout-out to one of our Reader Mail's on Spotify who did not appreciate our Kathleen/Evelyn theory back in The Housemaid days, and once again send a call to action to submit 5 star reviews (any 1 star submissions we kindly ask to send an email with your critiques & we'll read it on our next ep!)

As for the actual story, the girlies ask the hard hitting questions - is Charlie a loser? Would you follow your cat through an alleyway after your home exploded? Was Charlie's wife a plant by his uncle? Is Uncle Jack truly dead? And is Morrison a carbon copy of The Incredibles Spy-Lady Mirage?
