In Part 2 of The Boyfriend, the closeted Allison/Miranda of our Sex & the City gang is killed. Why? Because Tom stabbed his deadbeat dad and Allison saw Tom & Slug rolling the dead deadbeat dad’s body into their sedan.
Slug rises the ranks as the most likely serial killer as he knew right away how to clean up a dead body, how many garbage bags were needed to line the trunk, and had a great spot to dump the body.
The sisters play a game of Red Flag or Deal Breaker for Sydney’s first date with Mystery Doctor Man. Their final verdict? DEAL BREAKER. Sydney’s final verdict? GREEN FLAG I NEED A HUSBAND.

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK
The sisters journey back to the voice-to-text queen of thrillers, Freida McFadden (said with the utmost respect)
The book oscillates between some time in the past that feels like the 50s and present day.
The past section follows four teenage students - Daisy, Tom, Allison, & Slug. It is clear Tom is a psychopath in training who is only outweirded by his brofriend Slug. Per the text, Tom wants to be Daisy's boyfriend <3 Per the subtext, Allison also wants to be Daisy's girlfriend <3
The present day section follows three girlfriends, Sex and the City Style - Bonnie (Sex positive Sammantha), Gretchen (tradwife Charlotte), and Sydney (our self-absorbed Carrie Bradshaw). You may ask WHERE'S Miranda? She is stuck in the past as the closeted Allison.
Unfortunately for our story, the story quickly turns Death and the City as our Bonnie/Sammantha gets cut to ribbons in her NY apartment.
Who is the murderer? Join in as we weigh all the options
Before the sisters can close the book on The Silent Patient, they attempt to do a quick 15 minute chat on the morality of novel. As usual, this takes 40 minutes to cover
Aussie Correspondent asks the important question on Theo's character arc - Theo appeared to be a rehabilitated person from abuse. However, by the end of the book we find that he is unable to escape his past and becomes an abuser himself. Discussion? Are abused people destined to become abusers themselves.

THIS IS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK
The sisters wrap up the Silent Patient and give it a perfect 5 stars! The twist was twisty and most importantly a careful eye would have been able to solve the psycho the whole time was……*****!
The sisters wonder what drove Gabe to cheat on Alicia - did he feel trapped into a caretaker role he didn’t want? Was he after Alicia’s money? Or was he an insecure man who was jealous of Alicia’s artistic ability?
After Theo’s crazy is revealed, Chrissy is ready to throw him in the slammer while Candice still has hope for her psycho protagonist.
Stay-tuned because we have a special pick-up episode to discuss the morality of The Silent Patient from Aussie Correspondent - Emily!

The sisters travel back to the isle of the UK & Greece as they pick up Alex Michaelides best selling thriller, The Silent Patient.
Before opening the novel, Candice reviews the harrowing life of Alex Michaelides; full of opportunity and disappointment. Alex’s personal history blends seamlessly into The Silent Patient, making the sisters wonder if this is somewhat a memoire.

While Part 2 left the sisters thinking Reese Witherspoon’s debut novel would land between a 4 & a 5, the final third of the book goes off the rails into pure chaos resulting in a 3.2 star rating.
Where things went wrong:
Nadia’s tattoo was FAKE! Turns out Nadia employed Maggie to, ‘mess with her mind’
Oleg is stabbed in the middle of a mosh pit and his body is crowd-surfed away
Maggie turns into single-white-female and attempts to call the Dubai Police while operating as an undercover US CIA spy.
Despite all of the evidence pointing to the contrary, Nadia believes Maggie killed Marc & Trace!
Nadia logs into Longevity labs using missing Trace’s year old credentials, immediately triggering the alarms
EVERYTHING WITH PORKCHOP was b-a-n-a-n-a-s
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MONA LISA? WHY DID WE SPEND 10 PAGES READING ABOUT IT

Things have picked up in Reese's debut novel - Maggie has performed a first-of-a-kind nose job using a 3D printed nose, Nadia’s unexpected tattoo, Maggie’s Fast & the Furious style car crash and more!
Where our theories land:
Marc is aliiiiiiive
Trace is a turn coat
Nadia is the big bad
Oleg is the Gomez to Nadia’s Morticia
Pig Pen (AKA Pork Chop) will fly his motorcycle to the secret lab where Marc is kept as a researcher slave creating organs to keep the Nadia young forever

After loving Reese Witherspoon's book club pick - Broken Country (please read & listen if you haven't already; it's great!), the sisters put on their detective hats for Gone Before Goodbye (co written by Harlen Coben & Reese Witherspoon)
We spend the first 20 minutes going through Reese's wildly successful resume, including a first place medal for a tri-state talent show when she was 12. Then we get into the Reese's wild medical thriller
Join us as we wonder if Reese is name dropping products for #ads or if Maggie is just a pretentious medical doc-TOR

The ladies wrap up The Sweetest Getaway and detail all (2? 5? 7??) heists that happen in part two. We talk about all the characters we distrust (pretty much everyone except Lorinda), moral ambiguity, and who we wanted to get caught in the end. We were big fans of this adventure and hope you were too!
Join us next week for Gone Before Goodbye by Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben!
