The “Born in ‘87” Pod is Back! It’s an emergency pod because the man that tormented us as Jets fans for over 2 decades, Tom Brady, is finally gone (hopefully). Adam and Justin debate how much Brady truly tormented the Jets versus the Jets just being an inept franchise (0:30), and what Brady’s retirement means for the Jets and our psyches as fans. Also, with Brady and Roethlisberger now gone, it feels like an NFL leaf has been turned, and we discuss where we think Zach Wilson could potentially end up in the NFL (and particularly the AFC) QB hierarchy.

The Mets, Jets and Knicks are always terrible and 2021 was only slightly different (I guess the Knicks did make the playoffs). For the final pod of 2021, Ross Green joins Justin and Adam for the annual “Born in ‘87” 10 Worst Mets, Jets and Knicks moments of the year countdown (3:40). If you listen to us and root for these terrible teams, you are used to the misery, so listen to our end of year countdown and as always, hope next year will be better.
At the end of the pod we make Week 17 NFL Picks (1:12:53).
Thank you for listening in 2021 and we promise to continue bringing you great content in 2022!

On today’s pod, we rank the Mets, Jets and Knicks in order of how close we think each team is to a championship, aka, our “Crap Rankings” (0:30). We like to dream and think that one day we will see one of our three beloved teams win a championship, so from time to time on this pod, we like to come up with a “Crap Ranking” to determine the order of how close each of our teams is to that illustrious title. Generally, we just do this to torture ourselves because we will probably never see any of our teams win a championship, but ranking the teams in this way allows us to delve into the incompetency of these organizations and project down the road to see if any could eventually become true contenders. After we torture ourselves by ranking the three crappy teams we root for, at the end of the pod we make Week 15 NFL Picks (45:14).

Max Scherzer (as well as Starling Marte, Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha) are New York Mets. Steve Cohen is the greatest owner of all time, Billy Eppler is the greatest GM of all time, and everything is Amazin’ when it comes to the Mets! On this episode of the “Born in ’87” pod, Justin and Adam are joined by recurring guests Travis Williams and Alex Bigelisen for an unusually happy episode of the pod, as we celebrate all of the Mets big signings, including the historic signing of Max Scherzer (0:12). At the end of the pod we make Week 13 NFL Picks (49:18).

It is a special Thanksgiving Edition of the Born in ’87 Podcast, but since we are Mets, Jets and Knicks fans and have nothing to be (sports) thankful for, on today’s pod we look back at our last 10 years of sports fandom and pick a “What If?” scenario for each team, and ponder how the last decade may have played out differently if these topics we discuss did in fact happen (0:43). After we discuss a What-If scenario for each of the Jets, Mets and Knicks, at the end of the pod we make Week 12 NFL Picks (27:25).
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Noah Syndergaard is no longer a Met and the Mets have finally hired a General Manager. Clearly this called for an (albeit delayed) emergency pod. Noah Syndergaard was one of our favorite Mets over the past 7 years, and seeing him leave brought out a lot of emotion. Adam and Justin try to come to grips with the fact that Noah will be pitching in Anaheim next season (0:32), while also discussing the Mets hiring new GM Billy Eppler (13:04). We also breakdown the miserable déjà vu we are experiencing with the Jets starting Joe Flacco over Mike White at Quarterback this Sunday against Miami (21:41), and at the end of the pod we make our Week 11 NFL Picks (31:14).

Mike White became the first QB in ten years to throw for 400 yards in his first NFL start AND he led the Jets to an improbable come from behind win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Of course today’s pod is all about Mike White! Lance Kravitz returns to the pod, as we break down his historic first start, debate how long White will start, when we’ll see Zach Wilson again, and just how good Mike White could actually be (0:22). We also have a segment where we have a little fun and decide which famous person with the last name “White” will Mike White most be like?(34:10) At the end of the pod we preview Thursday Night Football where Mike White and the Jets will face off against the Indianapolis Colts and we make our Week 9 NFL Picks (43:08).

On today's pod we ask the question, is Carmelo Anthony really one of the 75 best players in NBA history? Last week, in honor of the NBA's 75th season, the NBA released its list of the 75 best players of all time. A former Knick who we watched a lot of, Carmelo Anthony, made this list and on today's pod, we debate whether or not Melo deserved to make it (12:15). Before analyzing Melo's career and debating whether he deserved his Top 75 spot over other players who did not make it, we begin the pod complaining about the Jets and praising the 2021-22 Knicks on their 3-1 start (0:12). At the end of the pod we make Week 8 NFL Picks (47:05).

The 2021-22 Knicks season begins on Wednesday and on today’s pod, Tom Leninger and Chris Meany join us to preview it (0:55). We had a lot of fun on this pod, as we preview a season for one of our teams that comes with both expectation, and is coming off of a year where the Knicks actually made the playoffs. We talk about pretty much any subplot you could think of for the upcoming Knicks season, and have a lot of fun taking some trips down memory road as well. We also make weekly NFL Picks (1:15:55). We had a blast recording this pod, and is a must listen to get you ready for the Knicks season!

On today's pod we put the Mets 2021 season to bed and begin to look forward to 2022. Before the season, Justin and Adam had Ross Green, Alex Bigelisen and Travis Williams on the pod, and we conducted our WAR Draft, where we each selected 5 Mets as part of a contest where the person who selected the 5 players with the best cumulative WAR in 2021 would win our "WAR Games" competition. Ross Green was the winner of that contest and at the top of the pod, Justin interviews Ross as he basks in the glory of his WAR Championship(0:01). On the main part of the pod (11:40), Justin and Adam bring on Alex Bigelisen to discuss the 2021 Mets season, try to find some silver linings and hope that next year may somehow be better. Towards the end of the pod, we get frustrated talking about the Mets, and we celebrate the Jets first win of the year and make Week 5 NFL Picks (45:45).
