A new season of Jets Football is upon us.  With their season opener in Buffalo less than 48 hours away, we discuss three things we are excited to see from the Jets this season (3:39), and three things we are not excited about for the Jets upcoming season (16:58).  Then, we will pick this week's Jets game (and a few other games too) against the spread (25:54).  This is going to be a strange football season and hopefully the Jets can surprise us all.  J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!

We recorded the first 12 minutes of this podcast right after the Mets lost the 2nd game of the Sunday, August 30th doubleheader to the Yankees, and for 12 minutes you can hear our raw frustration and disappointment.  However, prior to the brutal events of Sunday's doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Yankees, on Sunday morning we recorded and were prepared to post a positive podcast, as it felt like the Mets were poised for a late season run, we wanted to laud Dom Smith, and discuss Stevie Cohen's potential purchase of the New York Metropolitans.  While a lot of that positivity may now seem out of place, the big picture stuff we talked about still feels relevant, and we decided to post that podcast (12:00) after our raw rant to open the pod.  If you want to sulk with some fellow Mets fans, listen to the first 12 minutes, and if you want to feel a little positive about the 2021 season, listen to the rest.

This is a very different pod than normal, we had no plan, no outline, we just wanted to give you our raw emotions as we watched the NBA Draft Lottery in real time.  SPOILER ALERT:  Despite the 6th worst record in the NBA, the Knicks landed the 8th pick and we are not happy.  Enjoy!

The title of this pod says it all.  David Peterson is hurt and it feels like the Mets are past the point of no return.  The Mets have no starting pitching, the Yankees are looming, and despite a victory over the Marlins on this Tuesday evening, all is far from right in Metsland and we needed to vent.

What else could go wrong for Mets fans?  They could also root for the Knicks.  After a brief Knicks rant (1:11), we talk Mets the rest of the pod (2:39).  As said in the classic movie My Cousin Vinny, "Is there any more s*** we can pile on?  Is it possible? (3:20)", we ask, is there anything else that can go wrong for the Mets this year, is it possible?  From Stroman, to McNeil, to DeGrom, to Hamilton, to Ramos, to Wheeler, we discuss everything that has been going wrong for the Mets.  There is a lot of ranting about the Mets struggles thus far this year, so vent along with us on today's edition of the "Born in '87" podcast.

On this episode of the pod we are talking about all three of the teams we root for,  the Knicks (3:51), Mets (14:02) and Jets (23:30), as we select our Flash in the Pan All Stars.  We have selected six of our favorite players of all time (two from each team), but the catch is that these six guys time with our teams came and went way too fast.  These guys may have been a "Flash in the Pan", but we still hold a candle for these guys and remember them fondly.
