Today, 16 April 2015, WikiLeaks publishes an analysis and search system for The Sony Archives: 30,287 documents from Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) and 173,132 emails, to and from more than 2,200 SPE email addresses. SPE is a US subsidiary of the Japanese multinational technology and media corporation Sony, handling their film and TV production and distribution operations. It is a multi-billion dollar US business running many popular networks, TV shows and film franchises such as Spider-Man, Men in Black and Resident Evil.

Deputy sheriff Barney Fite  was a fictional character in the American television program The Andy Griffith Show, Bob Bates of the Tulsa' sheriff department was not.

Saturday, April 11, Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley (D) will address the National Action Network’s Annual Convention (NAN) in New York City. O’Malley, who is also a possible 2016 presidential candidate, will deliver remarks at 10:00 a.m. on the final day of the 17th annual NAN convention led by civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton in New York at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers.

This year’s annual convention arrives on the heels of a series of events that shined a bright light on the racial and civil rights challenges still plaguing America. It will be largest gathering of civil rights leaders since the tragedies in Ferguson, Staten Island and most recently, the tragic shooting of an unarmed man in South Carolina. Thousands of people are coming together – from faith leaders to business leaders to Obama Administration officials – to discuss ways to combat 21st century assaults on justice and equality.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel won his fight for political survival Tuesday and vowed to be a “better mayor” in a second term because of the scare he got from Jesus “Chuy” Garcia.

With 98.5 percent of the vote counted, Emanuel had 55.7 percent to Garcia’s 44.3 percent. The turnout was roughly 40 percent, up from 34 percent on Feb. 24. That was not high enough and nowhere near the outpouring that Garcia needed to unseat the deep-pockets incumbent. Chicago Sun-Times

On Sunday, the Chicago Cubs placed leadoff men on base in four of the six innings he pitched — three of them on doubles — and another would have been on but for a sliding catch by left fielder Matt Holliday to start the sixth inning.
