  • Paul Ryan's 2015 Budget
“The latest Ryan (R, Wisconsin) budget is not an April Fool’s joke,” Palin wrote on her Facebook page Tuesday. “But it really IS a joke because it is STILL not seeing the problem; it STILL is not proposing reining in wasteful government overspending TODAY, instead of speculating years out that some future Congress and White House may possibly, hopefully, eh-who-knows, take responsibility for today’s budgetary selfishness and shortsightedness to do so.”
“THIS is the definition of insanity,”
Now I’m an electrical engineer, and I run a successful small business near Birmingham, Alabama. That engineer’s mindset has guided my political activity, including the decision to take my First Amendment challenge to the Supreme Court. It all began during the 2011-12 election cycle, when I was donating money to various candidates for federal office and to some political party committees Shaun McCutcheon
"Once a citizen has made sufficient contributions to reach the total limitation set by federal law,you are telling him that he can’t make that contribution, however modest, certainly within the limits Congress has said does not present the problem of corruption, to a tenth candidate. That result has a “First Amendment cost”.Chief Justice John Roberts

  • Diversity at the FiveThirtyEight
“Clubhouse chemistry is important,” Silver said when he talked to Time.com last week about his own rigorous hires, which he posts gleefully on his dummy site. Last count: six women on the 19-person editorial staff. By the sophisticated math of this pundit – and Silver hates pundits – that is just under over 30%. Minorities – as, after all, women are a majority – are even more poorly served, at FiveThirtyEight and elsewhere.Emily Bell

  • The Clock Runs Out
In the last week, the administration counted more than 8.7 million visits to HealthCare.gov, including more than two million over the weekend. The telephone call center took more than 2.5 phone calls in the last week, compared with 2.4 million in all of February.
In a television interview with KWTV in Oklahoma, Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, said reports from insurers indicated that “somewhere between 80, 85, some say as high as 90 percent, have paid so far.”
In a discussion on MSNBC’s Now with Alex Wagner Tuesday afternoon, California state Senate candidate Sandra Fluke said companies could try to avoid paying for such things as HIV treatments “and, beyond that, to the level of what other laws could a corporation say, ‘We don’t need to comply with that because our owners have a personal objection.’ We’ve seen owners of corporations object to a whole list of nondiscrimination laws … [protecting the] LGBTQ community [and] the civil rights movement in the past. …”http://www.dallasvoice.com/lgbt-officials-worry-supreme-court-rule-favor-corporations-religious-exemption-cases-10170036.html

  • Baseball's Opening Day 2014
Baseball's Opening Day or is it ?
The baseball season started in Australia, with the Dodgers and Diamondbacks serving as ambassadors for the big-league game in Sydney. Now, thanks to “Opening Night,” the Dodgers will have played three regular season games before 27 teams have played even one. The first game played on opening day will be the fourth of the season. Oh, and then the Astros and Yankees don’t get started until Tuesday. USAToday
Beginning in 1886, the Chicago White Stockings were the first major League baseball team to get ready for their season in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
A whose who of Negro Leagues teams spent time training in Hot Springs – the Memphis Red Sox, Cleveland Buckeyes, New York Cubans, Baltimore Elites, Buck O’Neil and the Kansas City Monarchs. The New York Black Yankees, Chicago American Giants, Homestead Grays, Pittsburgh Crawfords and Detroit Stars also hopped on the bus and went South for spring training and played games versus local teams.
On this mournful day, consider the group of mankind worse off; Ralph McPherran Kiner has died. One of baseball's genuine and most charming gentlemen, foremost sluggers and most enduring personalities passed away Thursday at age 91 MLB
