  • Dr King and the Second Amendment
We explore Dr. King's  struggle against Apartheid and the Vietnam War as set forth in his address at the Riverside Church in New York City.
The Second Amendment is unique. No other constitutional provision has lived so small a life in the law while looming so large in the realms of policy, politics, and popular culture. Among the Bill of Rights, only the Third Amendment, which prohibits the quartering of troops in homes, has received less judicial attention.[2] Annotations of all the cases that have dealt with the Second Amendment take up a mere ten pages in the United States Code Annotated, compared, for example, to 1452 pages for First Amendment cases The Second Amendment was written to assure the South that the federal government would not disarm its militia. • America's Fight
"Most Americans agree that a president’s children should not be used as pawns in a political fight,” said Jay Carney, the White House press secretary. “But to go so far as to make the safety of the president’s children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly.”

The National Rifle Association cast its opposition to Obama’s plans as “the fight of the century” in a letter circulated at the 35th annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference, known in the trade as “the SHOT show,” in Las Vegas.
“I warned you this day was coming and now it’s here,” Wayne LaPierre, the NRA’s fiery executive vice president, wrote in a fund-raising letter to the group’s 4 million members. “It’s not about protecting your children. It’s not about stopping crime. It’s about banning your guns … PERIOD!”

  • President Obama's Vision Forward
    OBAMA’S VISION:
    MIDDLE CLASS
“You cannot grow this economy from the top down. You grow this economy from the middle class out.”
    OUTSOURCE FEWER JOBS
“I’ve got a plan to grow the economy, to create jobs and build more security for middle class families. I talked about it last night. I want to export more products, outsource fewer jobs. We can give tax breaks to companies that are shipping jobs overseas or we can give those tax breaks to companies that are investing right here in Iowa, right here in the United States of America.”

But no events are planned to examine Watergate.  The Nixon Foundation and the National Archives are planning a year of what are being called “Legacy Forums”.  There is no mention of discussing any of the articles of impeachment adopted by the House Judiciary Committee on July 27, 1974, that state Nixon “prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice” in Americ “false or misleading statements” to law enforcement officers or withholding evidence, or counseling witnesses to make false statements or misusing and interfering with the FBI, CIA and Secret Service. “Richard M. Nixon has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”Politico
