  • The Conscience of a Redstate Liberal Jerry Pippin
    This is a re-boardcast of a 2013 show.
Jerry wanted to be in broadcasting. He started hanging out at KBIX and KMUS, the two local radio stations in his home town of Muskogee, Oklahoma when he was in Junior High School. Finally after a couple of years, they got tired of him being a groupie, and gave him a job as one of the youngest announcers in the history of radio station KBIX. Radio was good to him, and he continued working full time and attended Northeastern State University in nearby Tahlequah, Oklahoma. In 1961, he joined the US Army where he was stationed in the San Francisco Bay area.
"Today has been a very difficult day for me....but full of wonderful memories. It has been a year since Jerry Bertrand Pippin passed away. He was a good, kind and gentle man. He is missed so much!" Roberta Scott

  • Super Tuesday 2016
Polls across the Bay State opened at 7 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. The weather is expected to be no impediment to turnout, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s.With high interest in the Republican race, Secretary of State William F. Galvin is predicting that the state could see the highest presidential primary voter turnout in its history— even higher than the 1.8 million people who voted in the 2008 presidential primary.Boston Globe
Colorado's caucus system mostly favors Sanders, as it gives an outsized voice to the most motivated party activists, who will gather at 7 p.m. for 3,010 precinct meetings that start the delegate-selection process.
Democratic Party officials project the caucus will draw fewer than the 120,000 who caucused in 2008 and caution that the nonbinding preference poll that apportions delegates to the county convention is just the first step in a long process.Denver Post

  • The Oscar Boycott
"We’ve talked about the climate of exclusion for people of color in Hollywood both in terms of being selected for possible awards and in terms of having power to make deals and it seems as though Hollywood listens a day or two and moves on. Now it’s time to make sure we can’t be ignored. A “tune out” can do that. One of the things that NAN has done, whether it was with Imus or other issues, is the way we have used he cash register. If major advertisers know that people are tuning out and the ratings are down, that will impact the bottom line of the value of the Academy and the Academy has to, at some point, determine whether or not it is in their interest to continue excluding people and excluding them at what price. Now we have to escalate that price. When we were fighting people before, we went right to the advertisers and people who ignored us started saying, ‘lets sit down and talk,’ because their bottom line was effected. You have to remember advertisers have to do business,"The Rev Dr Al Sharpton Variety

  • The African American Vote and the Sanders Campaign
One sad note the Hillary campaign takes on. Many of her supporters are icons, personalities, known people - like Geraldine Feraro, like Madeline Albright, and they get caught up in her campaign and will say the things she needs them to say. Hillary was a Goldwater Girl and the President of the Young Republicans in college. Bernie Sanders was at the University of Chicago. He marched with Dr. King. He was with C.O.R.E. (Congress on Racial Equality) he was arrested for protesting segregated housing and segregated schools. What difference does that make? They were both kids. Well, it shouldn't have made a difference until another icon, a civil rights leader, a key participant in the movement said "he never saw Bernie Sanders in the movement, but he did see Bill & Hillary Clinton." He was called on this by some of his colleagues, including Rep. Keith Ellison who said, "I don't care how good your eyesight is, you can't stand in Alabama and see Chicago." So, the next day, Rep. Lewis "clarified" that he didn't mean to imply that Bernie wasn't in the civil rights movement & he really hadn't met the Clinton's in the 60's, but he was in Arkansas in the 70's around the time Bill Clinton was there (not adding that according to his statement in a book, he was introduced to Bill Clinton in 1991 Emma Young Chicgo
