Florida Republican Matt Gaetz is in the news again, this time for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Between this, helping incite violence, threatening other people, lying, his DUIs, and his alleged ethics violations, how on Earth does someone so terrible have such a cushy job?

There's so much to this story, and so much related to mass shootings, mental health, right-wing hypocrisy, left-wing talking points, factors at play, and even other frightening stories and statistics being drowned out by this story that I needed to talk about all these things. Both sides of the political spectrum aren't going to like some of what I have to say here.

So it turns out that the RCMP destroyed records of police communications from the night Colten Boushie died and conducted a parallel internal probe into the handling of the case without notifying the civilian watchdog CRCC. The RCMP continues to face allegations of brutality and sexual assault. They also stood by and did nothing while innocent Mi'kmaq fisherman were attacked by angry white fishermen last year. Maybe it's time to #AbolishTheRCMP​...
