David George was a Black Baptist preacher who made a home in Nova Scotia. He was kind of the Martin Luther King Jr. of his day, and his preaching and actions - alongside external factors - would prompt the Shelburne Race Riots. I would love to talk about this more with Reverend Ed Trevors at some point. #BlackHistoryMonth

I'm also bothered by many of my fellow leftists celebrating this news. I would caution against too much celebrating, as a split right and then a reunited right has wreaked havoc on Canada in the past 20 years, and that offers a lesson for how the legitimizing of a fascist party could happen in America after just one or two election cycles.

Joseph Lewis is one of the few Black fur traders we definitely know about, but the information is sparse and poor records are kept of other Black fur traders. This bothers me, since the fur trade was integral to the foundation, exploration, and settlement of Canada. #BlackHistoryMonth

This is a non-story. The real story should be about the stolen tips, how Bezos will still hold the power and influence, and how this might just be cover for Bezos to help improve the company's image while they continue to be evil and exploitative. The fact that this isn't the story is what's bothering me today.
