The Democrat that he beat, the mayor of Tallahassee at the time Andrew Gillum, was later charged with 21 felonies for various types of corruption and caught up in a police sting in a hotel somewhere in Miami with a male prostitute and drugs? If DeSantis hadn't narrowly beaten Gillum, Gillum undoubtedly would have followed the lead of governors in blue states, such as Andrew Cuomo in New York, Gavin Newsom in California, and others. And Florida would have seen harsh lockdowns, mandates, school closings, and other blue state policies that would have driven Florida into the ground. Instead, under DeSantis, Florida is a powerhouse. 10 Criteria of an EB1 Visa You may be eligible for an EB1 visa and permanent residency in the United States without a job offer if you're an individual of extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, through sustained national or international acclaim. How do you prove it? Well, you must either provide evidence of a one-time major achievement (such as an Oscar, Pulitzer, or Olympic Medal) OR satisfy at least 3 of the following 10 criteria: 1. Receipt of lesser nationally or internationally recognized prizes or awards for excellence 2. Membership in associations in your field that require outstanding achievement of their members 3. Published material about you in professional or major trade publications or other major media 4. Service as a judge of the work of others in your industry 5. Original scientific, scholarly, artistic, athletic, or business-related contributions of major significance in your industry 6. Authorship of scholarly articles in professional or major trade publications or other major media 7. Display of your work at artistic exhibitions or showcases 8. Performance of a leading or critical role in distinguished organizations 9. Receipt of a high salary or other significantly high remuneration in relation to others in your field 10. Commercial successes in the performing arts Remember: You only need to meet at least 3 of these 10 criteria for an EB-1 visa. Utah Eases Licensing Requirements for Foreign Professionals Did you know that the State of Utah has made it easier for foreign professionals to get licensed and get to work in the United States? Utah State Law SB35 permits 9 state departments to issue licenses to foreign professionals who can prove that they have the requisite skills and experience to perform the jobs in Utah. And for professions with license portability between states, the law even opens a door to professionals living outside of Utah. To qualify, foreign applicants must show that they are lawfully present in the United States and carry an equivalent foreign license in one of the long list of eligible professions. So the new law is welcome news for many internationally trained professionals, but please note: A professional license is not the same as a work permit. How Long Can You Stay in the United States Legally? Did you know that you can no longer rely on passport entry stamps to determine how long you can legally stay in the United States on a nonimmigrant visa? That's because agents of US Customs and Border Protection (or CBP) have stopped issuing passport entry stamps and are now relying exclusively on electronic I94 entry records. But don’t worry. It’s easy to access your most recent entry record online. Just go to the CBP’s I94 website shortly after you enter the United States. Here's where to find it: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home Then scroll down to GET MOST RECENT I-94 and click on the box. Agree to the terms of service. Then Enter Your Travel Info exactly as it appears in your passport. When you click Next, you should see your most recent I94 and all of the information you need, including your visa classification, when you entered the US, and how long you can stay on this trip. Can God Help You to Get a Green Card? Well, your religious faith alone won't entitle you to any US immigration benefits. But you can get an R1 visa and eventually a green card by simply working at least 20 hours per week for a church or other qualifying, non-profit religious organization. The R1 visa category applies to a wide range of religious workers, including priests, nuns, ministers, religious educators, translators, and missionaries. To be eligible, you must have a job offer from a tax-exempt religious organization in the U.S. that qualifies for the program, but a lot of them are hiring these days. You must also be a member of the same or affiliated religious organization abroad for at least two years immediately before filing your R1 visa petition in the United States.
