Throughout anyone's high school career, numerous books are consumed in the pursuit of a passing grade in English class. From the classics, such as Romeo and Juliet, to more contemporary novels, there are just a few that stand out after all these years. One of these is a certain novel by S.E. Hinton, The Outsiders, telling a timeless story about a boy stuck in a world defined by social classes. Defined by his status and unable to break the cycle that keeps him and the rest of the greasers in their place, the narrative of Ponyboy is one that resonates not only with us but also with so many around the world. The story of The Outsiders continues in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, which we caught during our latest trip to New York City.

It's an act of bravery, showcasing true strength to do so, something that Joey Urreta is exhibiting as he brings his original work to The Ringwald Theatre in Ferndale, MI this weekend! Debuting for the first time tomorrow, A Certain Kind of Light explores topics that have impacted Urreta at different points in his life in what is sure to be an intimate and raw show. We had the pleasure of sitting down with the author, who shared with us how this show came to be and what it's like to share it with the world.

The Netherworld recently descended on the Metro Detroit area, as Beetlejuice the Musical arrived at the Fisher Theatre! Last year, The Ringwald Theatre stepped outside the proverbial box and tried something new with the Ringwald Reprise production of Applause. The idea behind this piece of experimental theater was exciting for all parties involved: a week of rehearsals leading to a weekend of performances. It was fast-paced and intense for the creatives involved, but the final result was a show unlike anything I've ever seen before. So imagine my excitement when this local Ferndale, MI, theater announced that the Ringwald Reprise was returning with a production of Hair! The cast and crew have been hard at work this week, rehearsing and preparing for their sold-out run of performances, but two of the actors, Melanie Grund and Jeff McMahon, took some time out of their intense schedules to speak with us about Hair!

In this exclusive Box Seat Babes Interview, Grund and McMahon discuss what it's like to be a part of experimental theater such as the Ringwald Reprise! These two talk about the advantages and challenges of such an intense rehearsal schedule and how they are preparing for a weekend of Hair.
