When I ask my 2 year-old, "what time is it?" he says, "6 minutes".
When I ask my clients and students how long it took them to get true freedom from a craving they answer in "allowed urges" as a measure of time.
I love this.
Listen in on this weeks' episode as Angie shares how she naturally and sustainable overcame her cravings and urges for wine and ice cream in "25 allowed urges" time (aka 2 months).
She tells us how she did it and how it feels for her now - and then we tackle her next one: "the witching hour". That time when she gets home from work at the end of the week exhausted, hungry, and wanting to skip the gym and the chicken breast, and go straight to Skinny Pop ;)
She beautifully shares her challenge and walks away with a new strategy that if she follows, she'll be free from by Spring.
Getting more and more freedom, one craving and allowed urge at a time.

If you love the concept of how allowing urges can decrease desire, cure cravings, and help you achieve effortless and sustainable weight loss, but you're confused about how to do it, you'll love this episode.
I have a conversation with Carole, a podcast listener who wrote me this comment: I cannot differentiate between surfing the wave and white knuckling a craving.
We talk about the difference between distraction and an engagement strategy, how restriction and deprivation are just a mindset, and how powerful it can be to just want 1 bite of cheesecake!
I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.

If you have limiting beliefs that you can't lose weight because:
-your job requires you to entertain clients frequently
-your partner brings home wine / chips / treats on the regular
-you think in "all-or-nothing terms"
-you think you have to suffer to lose weight - but that doesn't work either
-you can't stick to your plan on weekends because you need to unwind......
Then this podcast episode is for you!
I interview Jennifer who joined my online course Commitment Secrets in August and started working 1:1 with me in mid-October.
She opens up in this episode about how she is overcoming cravings, deprivation, and all-or-nothing thinking.
She also shares 2 new thoughts that she started to practice that allowed her to "surf the urge" and not give into cravings and how she learned to use curiosity to grow into her 2.0 version of herself.
Listen in to learn the 1 question Jennifer asks herself to overcome cravings and desire.

In this week's episode I reference Gretchen Rubin, a habits and happiness expert, and her research on abstaining and moderating.
This is an important episode because many of us assume we should "abstain" from certain foods while we "diet". But what I love about her research is this asks you to know yourself - and recognize if you have moderator tendencies (in which, you should NOT abstain), or if you have abstainer tendencies (and abstaining would make your life easier).
Just another tool in your tool belt to help you know yourself, choose the path of least resistance, and make deliberate and conscious choices in direction of the results you want to create - in your body, and in your life.

In this week's episode I'm building on the happiness set point concept and weaving in the concept that weight loss isn't what makes us unhappy, but it's a symptom thereof.
In order to address the symptom, we need to dig deeper and understand the underlying unhappiness and solve it from there. Once we solve what's really happening the symptoms start to take care of themselves in a natural and sustainable way.
I'm excited to share some of the tools to help address that underlying unhappiness - but that's coming next week in Part II.
Part 1 of this episode are the 3 considerations I want you to evaluate for your self that will help you decide which of the happiness strategies to implement from next week's episode.

In this episode I talk about perspective, fear, and skepticism.
I understand how shifting your mindset can sound too hard, too much effort AND / OR too easy to work. I share some research behind why it works and how we don't have to let emotions like fear or skepticism be in the drivers seat of our life.
I love Elizabeth Gilbert's analogy of fear: fear will always be there - it can come along for the ride - BUT - it is NEVER aloud to hold the map, give directions, and most of all - NEVER ALOUD TO DRIVE. Let it complain in the backseat but keep your eyes on the road ahead.
