The life of a police officer isn’t as gracious as seen on TV. Day in and day out they’re exposed to everyday traumas that far exceed what is tolerable.

Nick had his fair share of trauma during his 13 years of service. When diagnosed with PTSD he thought he was the only one in the force living with it; so self-medicated and hid. 

Reignited by finding his raison d’ etre, Nick alongside The Resiliency Project hope to better the lives of first responders who have or are going through such hardships

Bill along with Bob create the Long Beach Blues Society. Why? Because if someone doesn't do it, nobody will, and pretty much everyone loves the blues.

He traveled to half of the Mediterranean countries cooking for his Admiral and dignitaries, but Aaron wanted to do more.

He transitioned to the Army to work in EOD. While deployed he was hit by an IED that took 100% of his eyesight. Aaron also developed meningitis and lost 100% of his hearing as well. Just like that, he was in a completely new world.

The battles that you fight within your own mind, that is where the real victories and defeats reside.

Josue Barron left LA and the life of gangs to join the Marines. During a deployment to Helmand province in AFG, a bomb blew and took Josue's left leg, and his left eye. Yet, he's still grateful to be a Marine-he even wears a Marine Corps prosthetic eye.

Martin's book weaves together 4 lives that shaped one another...which sees Mitsuo evolve from a Japanese warrior with a deep hatred for the US...completely change his views. He actually immigrates to the US and raises his kids there.
