Johnny Crowder is a 29-year-old suicide/abuse survivor, TEDx speaker, touring musician, mental health and sobriety advocate, and the Founder & CEO of Cope Notes, a text-based mental health platform that provides daily support to users in nearly 100 countries around the world.
But in the years leading up to these incredible leaps in advocacy, every day was a battle against schizophrenic hallucinations and suicidal ideation. After a lifetime of resisting professional care and shying away from sharing his story, Johnny’s curiosity flowered, and the healing slowly began.
Armed with 10 years of clinical treatment, a psychology degree from the University of Central Florida, and a decade of peer support and public advocacy through the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Johnny’s youthful vigor for mental health has impacted millions of lives across the globe.
Since his first keynote in 2011, Johnny's refreshingly vulnerable and candid perspective has attracted praise from hundreds of outlets, including Upworthy, CNN, and Forbes.
Even when commanding a virtual stage or touring with his metal band, Prison, his infectious positivity and firsthand experience with multiple mental illnesses (ranging from bipolar disorder and PTSD to OCD and beyond) uniquely equip him to provide realistic, yet hopeful insight into the pains of hardship with authenticity, levity, and unconventional wit.

Monsoon Roastery is an environmentally conscious, community coffee roaster. We believe in 3 things:
We strongly believe in reducing, reusing and recycling. Everything inside our roastery is made from repurposed materials, we establish composting programs with our wholesale partners, run on 100% wind power energy and use compostable materials at our roastery and events.
We partner with various, local businesses to build social capital among Springfield and its surrounding areas. By social capital we mean “the networks of relationships among people who live and work in a society, enabling that society to function effectively”. In partnering with other businesses, also striving to perfect the art of their craft, we cross-promote so that the community can benefit from various high-quality products. This approach to partnerships helps to boost the local economy.
We are convenience and customer service driven. We bring coffee to where people are or need it, and we provide education and comprehensive workshops to understand coffee better.
A little about us:
Monsoon Roastery was birthed out of the desire to stop working to fulfill somebody else's dream and instead build something worthy of our time, energy and efforts. With a baby on the way, two half-finished degrees, and some ambitious inspiration...the dream was born. We used our passion and extensive knowledge of coffee, customer service, community engagement, research and brand management to create a product that we could stand behind.
We love being creative and fun with our product. We roast, pack, and seal every can by hand, and if we can make you laugh with our blend names in the process, even better. Our goal is to provide you with a thoroughly enjoyable coffee experience.
That is why we do everything we do!

"Our Modern Love believes in finding moments to celebrate the richness of our collective pride and diversity, one candle and/or craft at a time. Whether it’s a gift to self or to another, we appreciate the opportunity to help you express your love.
Our story begins with our ‘Love Tart’, our idea in creating a more versatile experience for all candle lovers. These heart-shaped soy wax melts are added to our candles for that extra splash of Pride and Love. They can be melted with the candle or used in a separate tart warmer you can place in another room. Your candle, your choice! And we hope you enjoy it.
We are committed to doing our part in creating a more just and peaceful world. We lean into celebrating all that makes us unique. Our products are extensions of who we are and what we believe. We hope you can join us in our efforts to light up the world with love." - Our Modern Love

Over the last 10 years, David has completed over 50 triathlons, including 15 Ironman-distance triathlons (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run), more than 50 runs longer than marathon distance, including several 24-hour runs, running 85 miles in Mexico in the heat of the summer, running 104 miles straight from Santa Barbara to Manhattan Beach, and most recently biking 4,700-miles in just six weeks as he met with the participants of his upcoming book exploring the emotional side of cancer.
As a former sedentary, over-weight, smoker, David knew that he needed to focus not on what others wanted out of him, but on what he wanted out of life. Through lessons learned in business and sport, David introduces the concept of the “middle of the pack” and discusses how to get more out of ourselves than ever imagined. He applies this concept to life and business and adds value to the people he works with coming from the perspective of the “middle of the pack.”
David was born in Miami and raised mostly in the Los Angeles area. He and his wife split their time between homes in Southern California and Southern Nevada. He has worked in real estate, lending, construction, started both an animation company and a skin care company, and then went into financial services. He has college-aged twins who are as aspirational as their father. After losing his sister to brain cancer, David has organized a yearly fundraiser in her memory, the most recent being the impetus for his upcoming book, Cycle of Lives – 15 People’s Stories, 5,000 Miles, and a Journey Through the Emotional Chaos of Cancer.
