This is our 6th episode of T-Time Tuesdays alongside one of the ‘Breakfast With Tiffany Show’ team members, Minami. This has been a space where we chit chat about life events that have caught our attention and updates on upcoming projects.
With the Autumn trees gradually changing into warm colors, Tiffany and Minami discuss their first meeting in Kyoto! We are both glad to see more people out and about during the fall after such a long time. This was also the longest Tiffany got to stay in Kyoto for five days, which gave her room to explore and meet unique locals from a ‘Kaiseki cuisine’ chef to a priest in Kiyomizu-dera temple in this traditionally preserved beautiful city. We discussed the experience of Minami being able to accompany Tiffany with her talented photographers, Felicity and Melville on this trip. As well as attending the amazing tea ceremony in English with the charismatic tea master Randy, at his teahouse named “Ran Hotei”. We highly recommend anyone visiting Kyoto to stop by at Ran Hotei to enjoy a pleasant matcha tea.
We hope to return to this amazing city once again, and in the meantime, we could be visiting a city near you!
We would love to hear from you as to what you think about the T-Time Tuesday series. Are there any stories that relate to what we talked about? Are there any questions you have for us? What would you like for us to cover in the future?
Thank you for your support and joining us again.

This is the last part with Miss Katalyna who reveals their journey advocating for LGBTQIA+ and local QTBIPOC.
Tiffany begins by asking Miss Katalyna the various questions such as what challenges she faces as a transwoman in Melbourne, how can someone be our best ally, and her proudest moment in her career. This episode ends with a very touching question on what words Miss Katalyna would leave to her younger self. While this is quite challenging to answer, she wishes she was encouraged to search for people who want the same things in life as herself. Tiffany leaves us with the message that for whatever you have experienced in the past to show compassion to yourself for being able to overcome and be where you are today.

Then to her manager and was about to reveal her identity to the team as a proud trans woman. Miss Katalyna explains that she strives to spread awareness and create safe spaces for future generations. Tiffany relates through her first podcast episode where she overcame the "fear of rejection" which is a source of power! The conversation continues around the misconception of sex work, work ethics and finding the courage to make mistakes and finding your calling. For this episode we have the charming Miss Katalyna from Melbourne Australia. This will be Part ONE of a three part piece.
We learn of Miss Katalyna’s upbringing which had constant back and forth with families that later drove the teenager to continuously run away. Growing up, her family realized she was a “Faʻafafine”. This translates to people who identify themselves as having a third gender or non-binary role in Samoan culture. Tiffany shares a similar term called “baklâ” that refers to a person who was assigned male at birth and has adopted a feminine gender expression in the Phillipines. The Faʻafafine traditionally integrated in society and were seen as healers and advisers. However, this social acceptance changed after the Christian missionaries enforced a rigid concept of gender onto the indigenous culture. Yet today, we find the Samoans are fighting to reclaim this historically significant word. Moreover, Miss Katalyna’s shares a coming out story with her family where she was not fully accepted and comments on parents to remember that the parenting does not stop even after their child decides to transition. Lastly, Miss Katalyna leaves a message to the youth to follow their hearts and reach out for support.
Miss Katalyna is based in Naarm (Melbourne). She is a TV Presenter of the first LGBTQI+ Multicultural cooking show “The Bent Spoon '' presented by Thorne Harbour Health. She is also one of the 3 co-founders of Trans Pride March Melbourne and the Trans Pride Concert alongside 2 other Trans advocates Sasja Sÿdek from Trans Sisters United and Rebeckah Loveday Miss Duchess Global 2021. Trans Pride March Melbourne will be Victoria’s first trans lead March by the Melbourne trans community. Miss Katalyna started her advocacy 28 years ago when she was only 17yo as HIV/AIDS peer educator going into high schools and educating students about the importance of safe sex. During Victoria’s first year of lockdown Miss Katalyna became a Remixer and a DJ who’s first gig was for All The Queens Men at Melbourne Pride 2022 and more recently doing a set for the AUNTY party curated by Sam Gaskin and Johnny Hamilton, AUNTY is an event that celebrates local QTBIPOC excellence.

This is the continuation from our last episode with Mina Martinez and her animal sanctuary in Chiba, Japan. This interview will also be featured on the Breakfast with Tiffany show Youtube Channel here: https://bit.ly/3vIVzhE
TW: certain topics in this episode will discuss animal abuse.
Our interview returns to funny and endearing stories shared of Mina’s experience with the various animals at her sanctuary. This leads to the question of how one could possibly know if they are ready to adopt a pet. Mina suggests contacting rescue centers and spending time with animals beforehand. AnimO is also very careful to prepare pet owners with proper training according to the animal before they can be adopted. Next, Mina is asked how she manages to run her animal sanctuary and she expresses that if one loves what they do, even through the slumps and hard days, the love for it will keep them going. In the future, Mina hopes AnimO can become an education center to address Animal Welfare that is not talked about enough in Japan. She continues by saying that showing your love and respect for animals is not simply buying one, but rather by volunteering or donating to animal sanctuaries.
We end the episode with a message to be cautious of the business practices that feature animals, such as animal cafes, and the harm we as consumers endorse by continuing to entertain with. Remember to be kind and respectful to all species living with us in our home, earth.
Follow Mina’s facebook posts on the arrivals of new animals to AnimO and reach out to go visit these amazing creatures.

For Tiffany’s Transformative Tips on this episode, she covers the definition and personal examples on boundaries and how more awareness on the topic can honor our needs to feel respected and safe without removing us from our own authenticity and self-love. We learn that boundaries can refer to time, property, physical, financial or emotional aspects that reflect our principles, rules or guidelines to avoid burnouts, triggers, stress, anxiety, manipulation, or financial and emotional burdens.
Tiffany reveals that boundaries cultivates self-love, it is a statement to others and yourself of your own self worth. As Tiffany voiced to us “breathe into your heart” and start truly listening to what boundaries will make you thrive as a person today.
Don’t forget to share with us what your experiences are with boundaries or the lack thereof. And what are some tips you’d like for Tiffany to share with you?

As most of you know, Tiffany is embarking on a journey to be an actor and in this episode we have invited her acting coach Jim to get a better understanding of what goes behind the curtains and we get a preview to the way Jim teaches the art of being an actor!
Jim begins by sharing his childhood enjoying the 70’s fashion and music, and being the only theater kid in the family. He reveals how he fell in love with theatre, where it provided him with skills and a family of misfits who he could relate to. Whereas there was no room for him to express this side to himself at home. The discussion then centers around acting, where Jim describes the technicalities, history, and examples of what each of the three styles contain; the Method Acting, Meisner Method, and the Strasberg Method. According to Jim, the key rule in acting is being truthful as an actor.
Finally, we leave the conversation with a message from Jim to the aspiring actors out there. Don’t let feelings of embarrassment or shame restrict you from your desire to be an actor. Life comes first, and your safety and security are important so find teachers and spaces that you feel comfortable with because acting can be a personal experience. Take your time to observe what supports you. And just go for it, your talent is forever!
Jim O’Connor received his bachelor of fine arts degree in acting from the University of Rhode Island, USA, where he studied the Meisner method. After working in regional theater under the guidance of Tony award winning Director, Adrian Hall, Jim relocated to New York City where his career shifted to daytime soap operas, episodic television and Emmy award winning national network commercials. Thereafter, Jim explored the growing trend as a television host with his own shows on the USA network amongst others. Throughout his pursuits, Jim steadily trained with Gary Swanson, a first generation acting pupil of Lee Strasberg and lifetime member of The Actor’s Studio. Jim enjoys teaching the knowledge he has been fortunate enough to obtain and now looks forward to sharing the same with Tokyo performing artists.
