And here in South Carolina, the state Senate rejected a White House-backed effort to redraw congressional districts during a special session called by Governor Henry McMaster. In a dramatic 26-18 vote — including opposition from 14 Republicans — the proposal failed, effectively ending the push for now.

Add in record turnout during the first day of early voting, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most politically charged election seasons in years.
