Today, we have a strange view on what forgiveness is, and how forgiveness works. Either we treat forgiveness as forgetting that we've been wronged, or we believe forgiveness should be easy all the time. This Sunday at Bridge, we are continuing our series in the Lord's Prayer and taking a look at what Jesus taught about forgiveness and how we can be a people of forgiveness; even when it feels impossible

Matthew 6:11

For a first-century believer asking God for "daily bread" was often not a metaphor. While our needs/desires aren't as precarious as theirs were - we too ask God for our own "daily bread." This week at Bridge we will explore asking God for tangible and intangible needs in prayer. With input from the Gospels, CS Lewis, and others, we will discover the Gift-giving-God who is eager to meet, transform and refine our every need & desire.

Have you ever made a plan for your life and then watched circumstances take you in a completely-different-direction? Have you ever felt crushed by the weight of the world around you? Has your heart ever burned to find deeper meaning in life? Yes, Life takes us on a journey. It is filled with all sorts of unexpected situations, places and people. While some of the surprises along the road are easy to find meaning in - some surprises leave us scratching our heads trying to make sense of it all. In the days after the crucifixion of Jesus, His disciples were left confused, depressed, anxious and longing for hope. Yet despite their doubt, on the road the Risen Jesus met them right-where -they-were -at. Their hearts burned as He offered them real understanding, deep hope and the power of His presence.

Zechariah lived during an era of despair. The faithful felt forgotten and feared their best days were behind them. Their challenges were enormous. Most everyone resonates with the desperation that results when we face a problem that is just too big for us… and the remarkable results when God shows up. Ironically, the name Zechariah means, “God remembers.” He is one of the most overlooked Old Testament prophets, yet his words populate the New Testament and were lived out in an unexpected way by Jesus.
