  • #6 Foundations: The Myth of Not Enough Money

    Your Creative Sparks:

    • Money doesn't actually EXIST. We have made it up and assigned VALUE to it.
    • Money is an exchange of ENERGY, a currency of love or of lack.
    • We can SHIFT our mindset around money and begin living in ABUNDANCE.

The Foundation episodes travel deep, deep down to bust the 3 biggest myths of the material world. Recorded on her Heroes Pilgrimage to Tulum, Lobsterbird teaches us to break apart these core concepts and the hold they have on our lives. Reality is just a projection of our thoughts and beliefs. In an abundance mindset, money is the currency of love and a conduit of commitment. In a scarcity mindset, money becomes a means of usurping power and wielding control to the detriment of others and our planet. Agents for good are needed to re-dream and re-create the world we share.

    Your Travelogue

    • Are you ready for a major shift? Money is just paper. This piece of paper is only more valuable than another because we say it is. Money only feels real because it drives our lives. [5:05]
    • Let's break it down with superheroes. Lex Luther spends his money to create technology and donate to philanthropic causes, but because these actions are fueled by his hatred and greed, the results are destructive. [10:44]
    • Our mythology around money has been passed down to us for generations, like the sad story of the starving artist. But you do not have to be poor to make good work. In fact, the world needs you to step up and start creating a movement with your message. It has always been the artists, the creatives, the writers, and the innovators who have seen a vision and imagined what is possible before it came to exist. [17:30]
    • Your thoughts create your reality in regards to making money. Thoughts geared toward lack vs thoughts geared toward abundance = very different choices. When we believe there is not enough, it leads us to create systems and strategies that only look out for ourselves, causing us to become stingy, triggering a wanting of more and more, perpetuating the great divide, and raging us into war. [30:00]
    • When you start a healing journey, your psyche will resist change. [39:00]
    • When we are doing the deep work on our own thoughts, ideas and beliefs around money, we can open new possibilities in the minds of others, even the most brutally oppressed. Working on ourselves changes the entire paradigm. [44:22]

  • #5 Sumi Shares Bonus Food for Thought

    Your Creative Sparks:

    • The simple act of LISTENING can open the door to healing.
    • When we understand ourselves better, we can UNDERSTAND our parents.
    • Together, we can HEAL the divide between the life that once was and the life that now is.

Creating the space to share our stories leaves room for healing to take place. After recording ended on our last episode, Lobsterbird's mom, Sumi unexpectedly opened up with painful revelations about her past and her own mother. Memories began to surface that revealed a deep poverty wound from childhood, shedding light on the fierce modesty and fiery hard work mindset that would shape Sumi's every action afterward.

    Your Travelogue

    • Sumi's parents lived in the country in Korea. As a young girl, Sumi remembers climbing far into the mountains to gather wood for burning in order to stay warm in the winter. It was hard work to collect a bundle big enough to last the night. Several women would go together, and because of the great distance they would pack lunches. Sumi often had no lunch to bring, but her family depended on her gathering the wood. Her mother didn't even have a winter sweater to keep her warm. [2:15]
    • Resources were slim and hard to come by, Sumi's mother went to extremes to try to feed the family. Once, when there was no money to buy rice, Sumi's mother cut and sold her long hair to the wig makers. [9:11]
    • Later in life, Sumi feels sad that she was not able to buy the things her mother needed. She also struggles with anger over the wealth enjoyed by her sister-in-law as her mother went without. [12:12]
    • Becoming a mother herself, Sumi wanted to provide better for her daughters. "Special Night" was Fridays at McDonald's, where there would be food and little toy. Even today, Sumi lives modestly to leave something behind to care for her girls. [17:00]

  • #4 Sumi in South Jersey

    Your Creative Sparks:

    • Making STRONG decisions can build a bridge to a new world.
    • Good food is a POWERFUL motivator and connector.
    • A healthy and happy FAMILY is the key ingredient of a good life.

They say life happens in the kitchen. Pull up a chair and prepare to fill your bowl with motherly wisdom. Sumi is our Lobsterbird's Mom. She was the first Korean on Long Beach Island. She came to America in 1971, at a time when racial tensions were still high. She married her American sweetheart at a time when mixed marriages were taboo. But for Sumi, she was just building a normal life with a nice man, doing the best she could, raising two strong daughters, and filling their lives with good food and sound decisions. A pioneer does not always recognize they occupy that important role. They just come to the table and serve.

    Your Travelogue

    • As a child, Sumi learned the priority of family ties in a literal way. Her family was moving by boat from from Japan to Korea when a violent storm rose up. Her father tied the family together with a long rope to "protect them". His mindset was... in case something happened, no one would go out alone; they would all be together, even in death. [4:33]
    • Sumi met a nice, very good-looking American military man while she was working as a waitress in a nightclub in Korea. They didn't share the same language, but they could share "conversation" on the dance floor. [20:00]
    • Sumi moved to the US to build a life with John. She arrived in a quiet town with no friends and no job. She learned English by watching TV commercials. What she missed most, however, was good Korean food, so the first thing she learned how to do was to drive to the Chinatown market. [27:00]
    • Sumi's hearty passion for good Korean food and caring for her family eventually produced a "psychic ability" in her, where she always seems to know exactly what people want to eat. [46:14]
    • Sumi's advice for a good life: Watch your budget. Don't stress out. Make sure your family is healthy, together and happy. [57:17]

  • #3 Walking in Crestone II with Sophia Remolde

Ep 3 Walking in Crestone II

    Your Creative Sparks:

    • Look to the quantum field for SIGNS and guidance.
    • Reality is NOT what it seems.
    • Become a CO-CREATOR of reality by taking an active role and responsibility.
    • We CHANGE the world by changing how we LOOK at it.

Welcome to the quantum field, where we break apart time and space so we can inhabit new ways of being that alter our reality. Enter into this magical portal, where green pine trees glow like signposts, clouds become delicious marshmallow peeps, and deer are gentle and compassionate members of the tribe who help to show us the way. In this episode, Lobsterbird {Sophia Remolde} returns to Crestone, Colorado where she teaches us that getting lost can actually help us find something—a surrender to the power of the Universe and the energy that pervades all things, an energy which is around and within each and every one of us.

    Your Travelogue

    • Sophia has traveled the world for over a decade to understand what this world is about. She has studied energy and perception as well as creativity. She has collaborated with scientists and studied in psychology. She has studied premier coaches and has been coached herself by a business coach with a spiritual and metaphysical edge. Her conclusion: Reality is not solid. [12:36]
    • The ego is not very creative. It can't imagine where new portals can take us. Trust your intuition and tap into what you want. You can change your own life and change the world. [27:45]
    • Case in point: Since our first episode, Sophia has published a book, developed her own healing practice and led a group on a virtual pilgrimage. Her personal specialty is "wormhole" coaching: how to break apart A>B>C linear time, bending the space between point A and C to bypass point B at warp speed. [34:14]
    • What reality is really like: Everything is happening in this moment. There is no future. There is no past. We {and this podcast} are not stuck in this false representation of a reality that does not exist. The material world is shifting. We can embrace this fundamental change—and change the world. [39:49]

  • #2 Bina Ramani in New Delhi

    Your Creative Sparks:

    • You can FACE frustrations, continue asking questions, and keep pursuing what INSPIRES you, despite a world that wants us to be different.
    • Look inside your SOUL. The answers are there. The soul is an incredible strength-giver.
    • SACRIFICE and PAIN can lead to this inward journey, where you discover that you are a SPIRITUAL being, more than just a body.
    • The alchemy is FAITH and HUMILITY.

Welcome to an ethereal sanctuary, where we let time and space unravel a bit in order to access a spirit beyond it. In this episode, we travel to New Delhi, India to visit with Bina Ramani. Bina's home is an island, discovered on a wandering journey down a mud and rubble lane, amid pollution and bandits, dead end and jungle. Despite all of this, she saw magic in this place, a seed of a dream, a space that would offer spiritual nurturing and happiness. Betwixt raucous hammering and lilting bird songs, Bina shares the story of her radiant, multi-passioned life of integrity and service. A life which, much like the sanctuary around her, rose from the ashes of pain and sacrifice.

    Your Travelogue

    • At young age, Bina was discovered to have a natural talent for athletics and a deep passion for music and singing. However, her very traditional family put a stop to her dreams because they feared they would never be able to find her a husband. She carried that heartbreak for years. [2:02]
    • Despite being essentially alone in life, with no degree or fine skills, one divine meeting and the poignant statement, "If you believe in yourself" opened the door for Bina to represent the Taj Hotel in an opportunity beyond her wildest dreams. [12:30] "Believe in Yourself" became her life's motto and changed her forever.
    • Bina went on to become a popular fashion designer, entrepreneur, restaurateur, social worker, visionary and socialite. Then one day she witnessed a murder and faced grave danger as a corrupt political system tried to silence her. Looking deep in her soul and finding strength there, she developed a fearlessness that would serve her the rest of her life. [26:36]
    • Bina still appreciates beauty and aesthetics and the conquest of good things, but underlying it is the cushion {"the best cushion in the world, that will never let you down"} that she is really a spiritual being. Her advice to multi-passionate people: Dream. Those who can dream are fortunate. Dreams make the future. Believe in yourself. Evil people are dreaming as well. That's an incredible education. And we are in the middle. [38:38]

    Links mentioned in this episode:

    • Bird in a Banyan Tree: The inspiring memoir of Bina Ramani, who did not give up in the worst of circumstances, and created a successful life for herself.

    • The world is evolving, and at this juncture we can FLIP IT and become the inter-connected culture we really are.
    • Face your FEAR, and obstacles DISAPPEAR.

Welcome to the intersection of creativity and spirituality. Feel the breeze of inspiration across your brow. Hear the rocky earth crunching beneath your feet as you cross over the Bridge to Being. Hearken to the caw of a winged creature, beckoning us onward, affirming our actions of care and compassion. In our first episode, Lobsterbird {Sophia Remolde} takes us with her on a walk across the looming mountains of Crestone in southern Colorado, inviting us to feel the vast and open sky, the powerful energetic depths, and the harmonic co-creation of the various spiritual groups dwelling and practicing their faith in this very special place.

    Your Travelogue

    • When we forget what it's like to be out in nature, we forget something of ourselves as a result. [3:33]
    • Why would an artist study business? We are experiencing a shift in paradigm from industrialism to connection, what Seth Godin refers to as the "Connection Economy". [5:55]
    • Crestone, in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado, has long been considered a sacred place, nestled on an enormous aquifer below the 14,000-foot Crestone Peaks. Many believe the town sits on a deposit of quartz crystals, making it a vortex to other dimensions. There are thirty religious shrines in Crestone, more per capita than any place on earth. [11:11]
