From the beginning of creation, God has clearly shown to mankind two significant truths about Himself—His eternal power and His Deity. What have we done with this truth? We have failed to glorify God as God, and we have exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image made like corruptible creatures. This rightly would bring upon us the eternal wrath of God—which is why the gospel is such good news!

Today we survey the eight visions given by the Lord to Zechariah the prophet, likely all on the same night. The content of these visions had both present application to the remnant returned from exile as well as prophetic revelation of events yet future. An interesting emphasis is the prophet's acknowledged dependence on the Lord for understanding of the visions and what they were communicating.

The first major section of the epistle to the Romans puts the gospel into perspective against the dark backdrop of the wrath of God revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. Particularly, it is mankind's failure to give to God His rightful place as the only ever-living sovereign Deity that kindles God's wrath against themselves.

Through Zechariah God calls the remnant, as He called their fathers, "Turn to Me!" To encourage their turning, God extends the promise that He will turn to them. Thankfully the remnant did not do as their fathers had done; the remnant turned!

The just shall live by faith is a statement from Habbakuk that is quoted three times in the New Testament. Faith is not only needed at the start of one's response to the gospel of God; it is needed in daily life, and it is needed at the end of life, as well.

An introduction to the prophet and to his book.
