 It is interesting that as Paul tells Timothy how to be God’s Unashamed Worker, that he spends the bulk of his time talking to him about avoiding arguments, squashing squabbles, and denying false doctrine. Rather we want to be that worker who relies upon God for everything we need.

The Bible says that we believers are to “be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed.” When I am presented before God for inspection, I don’t want to stand there ashamed. And so Paul tells us how we might be that Unashamed Worker according to what we do for the Lord.

The old song says, “I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God / I’ve been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His blood.” Gladly, I have been saved by Jesus and Christ and brought in to His family. Even some of Jesus’ half-brothers and sisters could eventually say, “I’m a part of the family, the family of God.“

Bill and Gloria Gaither really hit the mark when they wrote the song, The Family of God. But not everyone is a part of the family of God, and then there are people who are upset at the family of God. In Luke 8, that includes Jesus’ own biological family. Some were unbelievers and some were down-right annoyed with Jesus. This is a message the family of God needs to be reminded of.

Concerning the prophet Hosea, the Bible says, “When the Lord began to speak BY Hosea, the Lord said TO Hosea…” and then finishes with what God said to him. The principal is that before we speak for God, we need to hear God speak to us.

As children we learned the song, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” What were we singing about? We were singing about our testimonies and how we must not be ashamed to let it be known. So, friends, “Let Your Little Light Shine.”
