Everyone hates when Teresa sings, Alison hates doing the laundry, and everyone hates the pandemic. Today we’re taking a different approach as we head into another pandemic winter. We’re talking about the “silver linings” that we’ve learned and gained to keep in mind the positive changes the pandemic has brought.
Things like learning how to wash your hands properly and stop the spread of disease, the public benefits of delaying loan debt, and giving a child tax credit advance. We’ve learned how to bake bread, start new family traditions to stay inside like wearing matching pajamas and putting up a LOT of decorations, and figured out how to stay home.
In a state of a lot of anxiety and change, people are resilient.

In this episode, we discuss running our households with frugality and answer the question of whether or not you can be trendy on a budget. Buying secondhand certainly comes with some stigma. Is it possible to bypass feeling “poor” by changing our perspectives on how and why we make purchases?
Where do we shop on strict budgets, and how do we make sure it fits our lifestyles. Should you buy new things for your kids while they’re growing like weeds?

Teresa has fleas in her house, Alison has birds in her house, and we discuss how getting ready for back to school throws all of our rhythms off and brings us back to the reality of planning and scheduling for months on end. As soon as we get settled, the schedule switches up.
We also talk about what it's like for parent's of young children and how there’s very little support for working parents who have toddlers and preschoolers.
How do we beat this cycle of change? By creating systems to anticipate changes, building habits and processes to make school days easier and building our tribe to help us out are answers to our prayers!

In this episode, Teresa is addicted to watching Korean dramas, Alison makes a pact with her husband to be “perfect” for two weeks, and we discuss friends. Making friends is hard, even for the MOST social of us, but defined “friend groups” are not necessarily how we should find our people.

Project management is a career and skills that are used heavily in the professional world to keep things organized when they have BIG jobs that need to be done that don’t fall into the day to day.
Alison and Teresa break down the high-level concepts of project management and how we apply them systematically to the household to determine what we need to take on, set budgets, assign tasks, and stay on top of all of the things without freaking out, forgetting deadlines, disappointing people, or getting completely overwhelmed.
High level- we go over the big concepts on Project Management at home:
Plan it out
Set the goals of the project.
Define deliverables
Organize the team and players
