  • The 50/50 Marriage Mistake - And What to Do Instead.

What if one of the biggest mistakes we make in marriage is trying to keep everything fair?

Who did it last? Whose turn is it? Who’s more tired? Who’s already done enough?

That kind of scorekeeping can quietly change the way we see our spouse—and the way we serve them.

In this episode of Brotherhood Forged, Paul shares one principle that changed the way he looks at marriage:

The person with the greater capacity has the greater responsibility.

Marriage won’t always be 50/50. Some seasons you’ll carry more. Other seasons, your spouse will. The goal isn’t to make sure the weight is always divided equally—it’s to make sure neither person has to carry it alone.

We’ll talk about marriage, servant leadership, Mark 10, and why sometimes the strongest thing you can say to your spouse is simply:

    “I’ve got it.”

If you can carry more—carry more.

  • How the Devil Twists the Truth - And How to FIght Back.

The devil doesn’t always need you to believe an obvious lie. Sometimes he just needs to twist the truth enough that the wrong choice starts to sound reasonable.

    “You deserve this.”

“It’s not that big of a deal.”

    “You’ll deal with it later.”

    “You can handle this yourself.”

The strategy goes all the way back to Genesis 3: “Did God really say…?”

In this episode of Brotherhood Forged, we break down how the devil uses half-truths, doubt, justification, and delayed obedience to slowly pull Christian men away from God—and how to recognize those lies before they take root.

The answer isn’t trusting your feelings or trying harder. It’s knowing God’s Word well enough to recognize when the truth has been twisted.

Name the lie. Find the truth. Stand firm.

  • The Power of Prayer: Why Christian Men Shouldn't Wait Until It's Too Late

Brotherhood Forged is a Christian men's podcast helping men grow in faith, discipline, and leadership.

Most Christian men believe prayer is powerful. So why do we treat it like a last resort instead of a first response? Joey Koontz and Paul Bengel get honest about their own prayer struggles and break down what it actually looks like to build a disciplined prayer life, and why becoming a man who prays doesn't just change you, it changes how you lead your wife, your kids, and your home.

    Topics covered:

    • Why prayer is our way of talking to God, and why that relationship has to be intentional
    • The real reasons men don't pray more: busyness, misplaced priorities, and not knowing what to say
    • Joey's new morning rule: the phone stays down until he's worked out and talked to God
    • Why you don't need fancy words, just honesty (the Herb example)
    • Prayer as an act of surrender instead of another thing to control
    • Building a prayer list and praying specifically instead of generally
    • Why praying for someone who hurt you changes your own heart first
    • Surrendering the outcome: Luke 22:42 and Joey's prayer for his son and daughter-in-law
    • Leading your home as prophet, priest, and king, and modeling prayer for your wife and kids
    • Making prayer part of your whole day, not just devotional time
    • A simple 7-day prayer challenge to build the habit

    Scripture: Luke 11:1, Matthew 6:7-8, Luke 22:42, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, James 5:16

  • My Friend Had a Major Health Setback. He Saw It Coming.

A brother in our Brotherhood Forged community had what we thought was a stroke, it's still not entirely known, and the hardest part is he saw it coming for years and kept telling himself he'd deal with it later.

In this video I'm getting honest about what Captain's story is teaching me, and what Scripture actually says about two things driven men love to ignore: taking care of your body, and taking rest seriously.

Neither one is optional to God, even when it feels optional to you. If you've been putting off a checkup, working yourself into the ground, or telling yourself you'll rest later, take this as your warning shot. Join a community of men actually doing this together at bro4ged.com.

  • Your Wife Needs You To Lead Like This.

A lot of Christian men hear “spiritual leadership” and immediately think authority, final say, or being the head of the household.

But when we look at Jesus, we see something different.

Jesus had all authority, yet He served. He sacrificed. He washed feet. He laid His life down.

In this episode of Brotherhood Forged, Paul breaks down what Christlike leadership in marriage actually looks like: going first, serving first, apologizing first, praying first, and using your strength for the good of your wife and family.

Spiritual leadership isn’t about getting your way first.

It’s about being willing to go first.

If you’re a husband who wants to lead your home in a way that actually reflects Christ, this one is for you.

Stand firm. Lead well. Love your family.

    YouTube description

Your wife doesn’t need another boss. She needs a husband who is willing to lead like Christ.

Too often, spiritual leadership gets confused with authority, control, or getting the final say. But Jesus gave us a completely different model.

    He served.

    He sacrificed.

    He went first.

    He laid His life down.

In this episode, we talk about what biblical leadership in marriage actually looks like and why leadership is less about being “in charge” and more about taking responsibility, serving your wife, pursuing her, apologizing when you’re wrong, and setting the spiritual tone in your home.

    Scripture referenced:

    Ephesians 5:25

    Mark 10:45

  • Satan Doesn't Need To Destroy You. He Just Needs To Distract You.

Not every spiritual battle looks dramatic.

Sometimes the danger is much quieter: distraction.

Work. Phones. Sports. Training. Projects. Even ministry. None of these things are necessarily bad, but good things can still get out of order.

In this episode, Paul looks at what Scripture says about being watchful, the danger of spiritual drift, and why Satan doesn’t necessarily need to destroy a man to make him ineffective.

    Two questions to wrestle with:

What has most of my attention right now?

And what is it taking my attention away from?

The goal isn’t less screen time. The goal is faithfulness.

  • Why Consistency Is The Most Heroic Thing A Man Can Be (with Jim Bob Haggerton)

Brotherhood Forged is a Christian men's podcast helping men grow in faith, discipline, and leadership.

This week Joey and Paul sit down with Dr. Jim Bob Haggerton, chiropractor, author, marriage mentor, and a guy who's lived what feels like several lives. Jim Bob gets brutally honest about the affair that almost destroyed his marriage, the moment on a beach in Florida when God stopped him cold, and the fifteen years since spent mentoring couples through the exact wreckage he once caused. He also opens up about losing his infant son Evans to Potter syndrome, why isolation is the enemy's favorite doorway into a man's life, and the acronym (HALT) that's saved his marriage more times than he can count. If you've ever messed up bad and wondered if you could ever lead again, this one's for you.

  • Why You Have No Real Friends Anymore

Brotherhood Forged is a Christian men's podcast helping men grow in faith, discipline, and leadership.

Most guys don't lose their friends in a blowup. They just get busy, stop reaching out, and one day realize there's nobody left to call. Joey breaks down the three quiet reasons men end up isolated, why that isolation leaks into your marriage and your walk with God, and three simple shifts you can start today to rebuild real brotherhood.

    Topics covered:

    • Why waiting for the other guy to text first is how friendships die
    • The difference between proximity (coworkers, gym guys, Sunday hellos) and real brotherhood
    • The "2 a.m. test": who would actually pick up
    • Why hidden men don't get rescued, they get missed
    • How isolation quietly fuels stress, anger, and pride nobody challenges
    • Shift 1: Initiate this week with a real time and place, not "we should hang out"
    • Shift 2: Go one layer deeper by asking "what's been heavy for you lately?" and actually listening
    • Shift 3: Trade intensity for consistency, same guy, same time, every other week

    Scripture: Proverbs 18:24

  • Stop Proving You Love Her. Do This Instead.

    Most husbands love their wives.

But loving your wife and making sure she actually feels loved aren’t always the same thing.

You can work hard, provide, stay faithful, help with the kids, solve problems, and still miss the connection she needs from you.

In this solo episode, I talk about something I’ve had to learn in my own marriage: my intentions don’t automatically equal my wife’s experience.

Sometimes she doesn’t need me to fix it. She needs me to listen.

Sometimes loving her better doesn’t mean doing more. It means continuing to learn her, pursue her, and understand what she needs in this season.

Ephesians 5:25 calls husbands to a love that is intentional, sacrificial, and others-focused.

    So here’s the question:

Does your wife actually feel loved by the way you’re showing up right now?

  • You Can't Change What You Won't Own

You may not control what happened to you, what season you’re in, or how other people choose to show up. But you still have control over what you do next.

In this episode of Brotherhood Forged, we dig into a question every man needs to be willing to ask: What part of this is mine to own?

We talk about the difference between ownership and self-blame, why accountability has to begin with yourself, and how easy it is to spend more time auditing your wife, your kids, your boss, or your circumstances than looking in the mirror.

Maybe what happened wasn’t your fault.

But what you do next is still your responsibility.

Choose one area of your life that feels frustrating right now and ask:

    1. What am I blaming?
    2. What part of this is mine to own?
    3. What can I do about it today?

Because ownership without action is just awareness.

You can’t change what you won’t own.
