Most husbands love their wives.
But loving your wife and making sure she actually feels loved aren’t always the same thing.
You can work hard, provide, stay faithful, help with the kids, solve problems, and still miss the connection she needs from you.
In this solo episode, I talk about something I’ve had to learn in my own marriage: my intentions don’t automatically equal my wife’s experience.
Sometimes she doesn’t need me to fix it. She needs me to listen.
Sometimes loving her better doesn’t mean doing more. It means continuing to learn her, pursue her, and understand what she needs in this season.
Ephesians 5:25 calls husbands to a love that is intentional, sacrificial, and others-focused.
So here’s the question:
Does your wife actually feel loved by the way you’re showing up right now?
#ChristianMarriage #ChristianHusband #GodlyMarriage #MarriageAdvice #BrotherhoodForged
You may not control what happened to you, what season you’re in, or how other people choose to show up. But you still have control over what you do next.
In this episode of Brotherhood Forged, we dig into a question every man needs to be willing to ask: What part of this is mine to own?
We talk about the difference between ownership and self-blame, why accountability has to begin with yourself, and how easy it is to spend more time auditing your wife, your kids, your boss, or your circumstances than looking in the mirror.
Maybe what happened wasn’t your fault.
But what you do next is still your responsibility.
Choose one area of your life that feels frustrating right now and ask:
Because ownership without action is just awareness.
You can’t change what you won’t own.

Brotherhood Forged is a Christian men's podcast helping men grow in faith, discipline, and leadership.
In this episode, Joey Koontz and Paul Bengel dig into what biblical manhood actually looks like once you strip away the noise. This is a conversation about men's faith, spiritual strength, and what real Christian brotherhood requires when life gets hard. Using Paul's six-part standard in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong, do everything in love, they break down where each command actually gets tested in a man's everyday life.
Topics covered:
What "act like a man" means once you take social media out of the equation
Why Andrew Tate's version of masculinity misses the mark
Breaking generational silence around emotions
Being watchful: the spiritual attacks that come through your phone and free time

Standing firm through scripture memorization, not just knowing where to find it
Biblical leadership vs. control in your home
Why passivity is not humility
Building real strength through resistance instead of comfort
Why "everything be done in love" is the guardrail for this whole verse
Why the trio is named "Sixteen Thirteen"
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (ESV and NLT)
Mentioned: Pastor Joby Martin, Bryce Crawford, and the guys' Wednesday night Bible study with Hugh, Jeff, and Richie

Alpha male culture sells strength without love, and it almost cost me my marriage. In this video I break down 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 and why real biblical manhood was never about being feared, it was about being trusted. This is for the husband, father, and brother who is tired of performing strength and ready to actually carry it. Brotherhood Forged exists to help men do this together instead of alone. You can love your wife deeply and still make her feel like she’s getting whatever is left of you.
Work gets your focus. Training gets your discipline. Your goals get your energy. Your phone somehow gets hours of your attention.
Then you get home tired, distracted, and ready to shut your brain off.
In this solo episode of Brotherhood Forged, Paul talks about the difference between being home and actually being present, why small moments of disconnection can quietly add up in a marriage, and what it looks like to keep pursuing your wife after the wedding.
He also breaks down Ephesians 5:25 and challenges husbands to rethink what sacrificial love looks like in everyday life.
You might say you’d die for your wife.
But will you put your phone down for her?
This episode is a challenge to stop waiting for a marriage problem before you start investing in your marriage.
Put the phone down. Ask the question. Plan the date. Give her your attention.
You chose her.
Keep choosing her.
Stand firm.

You can believe your wife and kids matter most and still hand them your leftovers, the empty tank left after work, friends, and goals got the best of you first. That's the provider trap. In this episode Joey Koontz, Paul Bengel, and Fred Frederickson get honest about how easy it is to fall into it.
We talk about the battery you drain all day at work, the difference between providing for your family and showing up for them, and how to fill your own cup without stealing more time from the people who need you most.
In this episode:
Scripture referenced: 1 Samuel 17, David and Goliath, your ministry starts at home Ephesians 5:25, love your wife as Christ loved the church 1 Timothy 3:4-5, manage your own household well
Mentioned in this episode: Pastor Lamar Ferrell's sermon on 1 Samuel 17 Zach Hommel, powerlifting coach, for the battery analogy Joel Beeke's family worship and Bible study guide, which Paul reads with his kids Fred Frederickson, life coach and cohost, on Instagram @coachfredofficial

Former athletes, the game may be over, but your competitive edge doesn’t have to disappear.
For years, you had a jersey, a team, a scoreboard, and something to compete for. When that chapter ends, it can be hard to know where to put that same drive.
But you still represent something bigger than yourself.
Your wife.
Your kids.
Your family.
Your faith.
In this mini episode, Paul challenges former athletes to redirect the discipline, competitiveness, and standards that once fueled them in sports toward the man they’re becoming today.
The game changed.
The standard didn’t.
Brotherhood Forged is a Christian men's podcast helping men grow in faith, discipline, and leadership.
This episode kicks off a monthly three man series with Paul Bengel, Joey Koontz, and returning guest Fred Frederickson, and the topic is one every man knows in his bones: feeling stuck. Stuck in a job. Stuck in a routine. Stuck in an old version of yourself that stopped serving your future a long time ago.
Joey opens up about being 8 days into finally breaking free from decades of yo yo health habits, sugar, and excuses. Paul shares his ongoing wrestling match with letting go of his identity as an athlete to grow into his identity as a husband, father, and leader. And Fred tells the story of the season he felt trapped in a career he hated, afraid to start over, until he learned that the thing nagging at you in your head is often your future self calling you forward.
Together they break down what actually gets a man unstuck: identifying the belief behind the stuck feeling, taking ownership instead of making excuses, and surrounding yourself with brothers who will not let you settle for comfortable.

What if the marriage you’re praying for begins with the husband you’re becoming?
It’s easy to focus on what we wish was different in our marriage. Better communication. More connection. More intimacy. Less tension.
But the harder question is:
What is God asking me to change?
In this short Brotherhood Forged Weekly episode, we talk about what it means to go first in marriage.
Love is a choice.
Leadership looks like service.
Your kids are watching how you love your spouse.
Ephesians 5:25 says:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
Maybe the prayer isn’t only, “God, change my marriage.”
Maybe it’s:
“God, change me. Make me patient. Make me humble. Make me present. Make me the husband You’ve called me to be.”
This week’s challenge:
Serve your spouse without being asked. Don’t announce it. Don’t keep score. Don’t expect anything back.
Go first.

Stay firm. Keep showing up.

Having a baby changes more than your schedule. It changes your marriage, your responsibilities, and the way you connect as a couple.
In this episode, Amber joins me for an honest conversation about postpartum, anxiety, depression, marriage after kids, and what we wish we understood when we became parents.
We talk about feeling disconnected, the pressure both parents experience, why husbands need to take initiative instead of waiting to be asked, and why keeping score can damage a marriage during an already difficult season.
And maybe the biggest lesson we’ve learned: the goal isn’t to get back to the couple you were before the baby. It’s learning how to grow into the couple and family you’re becoming.
For husbands: don’t stand on the sidelines waiting for things to “get back to normal.” Step into the season with your wife. Don’t ask who’s doing more. Ask, “How can I take care of you?”
Keep showing up.
