Hi guys,
Welcome back to Brother In Arms Podcast, this weeks guest is BBC journalist Jamie McIver. Jamie tells us a compelling story about his ups and downs. We begin in his home town and how he dealt with being out forward a year in School, we move onto his career and how experiences of his journalistic career have impacted him including being in New York during the September 11 attacks in 2001 and being on the screen during the Glasgow Clutha tragedy and the tragic events in Glasgow City Center during the Christmas period in 2014 when a bin lorry crash took the lives of 6 people. I want to personally thank Jamie for being brave enough to come and talk.

Hi guys,
Welcome to this weeks episode of Brothers In Arms Podcast, this week we had the pleasure of sitting down with Sanjeev Kohli who is famous for his roles in Still Game and River City among many more accolades in a glittering career as a writer and actor. Sanjeev was very open and honest about the difficulties he's faced throughout his life, as many of us do, with his mental health. Sanjeev also told us about just how difficult it is to pursue a career that break from the traditional career paths set out for us and how there is a stigma among the many communities around us when we don't want to be a doctor, lawyer or engineer and instead want to go into the arts.
Please go give Sanjeev a follow on Twitter @govindajeggy and also share this episode as well as like, subscribe and review Brothers In Arms Podcast on Apple and Spotify.
BIA
This week Brothers in Arms Gary Goldie and Cognitive Behavioral Therapist Paul Shields had the pleasure of sitting down with Chris Halliday to talk about the fund raising he's doing for BIA climbing the Munroe's. The guys got into why getting out of your head and having a single point of focus for a few hours can have a real therapeutic effect, and Chris tells us all about how he personally uses this and a journal to help him cope with the pressures of his life big and small.
Thank you to Chris for coming in and we would welcome him back any time!
Remember guys and girls if you need some support with your mental health or want to get more into the concepts discussed in the podcast please visit the BIA website and sign up to the free BIA Thrive app here:

This week we have Brothers In Arms contributors Gary Goldie and Jamie Allan along with Podcaster and CBT Therapist Paul Shields to talk all about Overwhelm and burn out. The chat took a interesting turn to focus on how some of the ideas of the past such as men being the bread winner can lead to being overwhelmed and ultimately burning out with the pressures of life getting too much. The guys also go on to talk about how you can cope and give some pointers and as always we talk about how the BIA Thrive app can help in this area.
If anyone wants to get access to the Thrive app for FREE please see here:

This week feeds into previous episodes about Community and talking in peer to peer setting, we are here to talk all about Andy’s Man Club. In the room we have an always Gary from BIA as well as Dan Proverbs, founder of BIA, Jamie from BIA and Alex McClintock who is here representing Andy’s Man Club Scotland.
We talk about how Lockdown has seen a huge upsurge in uptake in peer to peer support, how all peer to peer support and other mental health organisations need to work more closely together, how important it is to have people with lived experience in this field and Alex takes us through what its like to attend a meeting.
We also touch on how the peer to peer support could be replacing the pub or the social clubs of yesteryear to give men a safe space to be around and connect with other men. How the men that attend these groups are the role models we need and lead us in opening up and much much more.

This weeks Podcast is Part Two of our discussion about Community. Again we have Gary and Kieran from Bothers In Arms, Paul Shields from Rebel City Podcast who is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and Gregor Anderson photographer and traveler.
This week we go a little deeper and pose a few questions around our ideas of community:
- What can be learned from the communities outwit our own.
- How our culture doesn't lend itself to being open and honest.
- How traveling will give us a new perspective on life, society and community.
- How we usually live and react in emotion and how to disconnect to be your true self.
- How does alcohol feed toxic behavior in our community.
- Our sense of community and identity can feed out mental well being.
- How lockdown has impacted community.
- Have we lost the Social Contract of responsibility within our communities?
- Does the male affiliation with Football give a false sense of community? Do we deserve more?
- How do we find the balance between individual wants and community needs.
- How consumerism has taken the place of our quest for gratitude.
- Our phones and social media can connect us to a global community but can be used to help us connect with local communities.
