  • Episode 55 - The Warm Embracer Embrace

The Embracer Group has announced that they have 234 games coming between now and March '26. Is this too many games? Minor spoilers: yeah, that's just way too many.

Bill has gotten some good playtime with Tactics Ogre: Reborn and shares his thoughts while Jackson slowly meanders his way through Chicory: A Colorful Tale while being heavily criticized by a 6 year old for his decisions.

We also talk about some games that seem to be missing. Where is our Final Fantasy Tactics Remake? Is there going to be a sequel to Dodgeball Academia after the game heavily suggest there should be? Is Little Devil Inside ever going to release?

Plus, we wax nostalgic about toothpaste and VHS rewinders.

  • Episode 54 - More Dates Than You Can Shake a Stick At

As we head into the final weeks of the year, we're starting to get a better idea of what's coming NEXT year. Because you know what's more exciting than the games you already have? The games you might have later.

Square-Enix dropped some knowledge bombs on us, with information about Octopath Traveler II, Final Fantasy XVI, and Forspoken. And they of course had to do a patented Square-Enix announcement about an announcement, because they're Square-Enix and that's their go-to move.

There sure are a lot of games in the Trails series. And guess what! There's yet another one confirmed to be leaving Japan next year. All Trails, all the time baby.

Plus - why are the survivors in zombie apocalypses frequently the people who seem least likely to have survived? Should developers change the way buttons are mapped? Are in-game instructions less attention grabbing than manuals? And jarts! Remember jarts? We sure do.

And keep an ear out for Bill pulling the M. Night Shyamalan Twist of the Year.

  • Episode 53 - Scissor Lift Scarcity

Kirby plushies are coming showcasing the Forgotten Land, but something important is missing. We discuss what that is and try to remain optimistic.

Both of us played a lot of stuff this week. Did Jackson keep up his 3 games a week pace? And did Bill get in an hour of Arise? You'll have to listen to find out.

Square-Enix, Embracer, and EA are all up to some wild shenanigans, and we have thoughts on them.

Plus! Bill knows wedding music. Is it appropriate to play songs about divorce at a wedding? Which line-dance style music is ok? Does Bill have terrible takes on Bing Crosby, but ok ones on The Killers? Do we have any idea what the zeitgeist is? All these answers and more are in this episode.

  • Episode 52 - A Streak of Epic Proportions

Against all odds, Jackson has wrapped up another game this week. What kind of madness is this? Four games inside of a month? Scholars maintain that this kind of breakneck pace can not possibly continue.

Bill is still in favor of fishing in games, but he is not in favor of The Who or Age of Empires PvP. Find out why.

Sonic Frontiers is coming very soon, and The Callisto Protocol a few weeks after that. Will we be playing either one?

Also, we have decided that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series is now the current generation, so it's time to stop referring to them as next-gen. It's been two years, people, get with the program.

  • Episode 51 - A Trails of Two Cities

With the first half of The Legend of Heroes Crossbell duology, Trails from Zero, launching last month, fans were wondering when the second half would come west. Well wonder no more, as we not only have a date for Trails to Azure but also a window for the next game after that, Trails into Reverie. Will Bill have enough time??

Lots of Square Enix stuff this week, with information about Front Mission 2, Stranger of Paradise DLC, Fire Emblem Engage, and FF16. Seems like a good time to be an RPG fan.

Sony is coming out with a $200 controller. Who the heck is it for???

  • Episode 50 - Dance Puppets!

Cuphead's physical edition is finally coming! And the collector's edition comes with something unexpected in addition to all the normal things you'd expect: your very own Cuphead marionette, which probably won't come to life and try to kill you. Maybe.

We have a shallow dive into Pitfall this week, and a deep dive into the joys of cheap wine and booze. Oh yeah, and we talk about some games too.  Is Paper Mario-like a genre? Well it is now!

  • Episode 49 - Radiant Questions

Radiant quests... why are they so horrible? Jackson goes off, and Bill learns what they are and then decides that yes, they are horrible. Let's get them out of games.

Skyrim is on pretty much every electrically powered device you can find. Does it run better on a Switch or a dishwasher? We discuss.

Jackson has finished another game, 2 in 2 weeks! What is this madness?!? Bill also got some playtime in.

Plus - why doesn't Milon's Secret Castle have more sequels? Is sleeping a giant waste of our productivity? How much does Bill know about Metal Gear? All that, plus Bill is super disrespectful to Bob Hoskins, which cannot be allowed to stand.

  • Episode 48 - There Is Another Backlogger

Bill couldn't record this week, but was that going to stop us? Well, almost, but we've called in our secret weapon! We've got even more brothers!

Skull & Bones has gone from going head to head with God of War to going to 2023. What are the crazy people at Ubisoft up to anyway? You know, besides selling out hard to the CCP.

We did not get a trailer for the upcoming Super Mario movie, but we did get an announcement that a trailer is coming soon. Who is in charge of this thing, Square-Enix? Although let's give S-E some credit, because they did announce something about Octopath Traveler II instead of announcing that they were planning to announce it.  That's a real twist, but maybe not full M. Night.

  • Episode 47 - Gotta Recruit 'Em All

Do you want to recruit triple digits of potential squad members in your RPGs? Then this past week has got the information you're going to want. Between a new trailer for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and the announcement of a combined remaster of Suikoden I & II, there will be more heroes than you can shake a stick at. Probably. They might not like you out there shaking sticks willy-nilly.

Beyond that, there's a bunch of other RPG news to be excited about. Square-Enix is out there doing Square-Enix things, which could be good or bad. Find out which we think it is.

Plus: a deep dive into MCU Phase 4, Bill's awful opinion on Love Actually, a big soda breakdown, and a depressing realization about Wall-E.

And a shocking twist! Jackson did in fact go for a run Thursday evening. Analysts say it's possibly more shocking than the Music City Miracle.

  • Episode 46 - The Showcase Showdown

As we head into fall, everybody is coming in hot to showcase their wares. With shows from Ubisoft, Disney & Marvel, Nintendo and Sony this last week, we've got a lot of games to discuss in this larger than usual episode. Who stood out among their peers? The answer might surprise you (but probably won't).

In addition, there's absolutely shocking news about Babylon's Fall from Square-Enix. No, wait, not shocking. What's the word? Oh right, completely expected.  And there's more stuff coming to Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Looks like Team Ninja had a plan after all. Maybe they should have helped out PlatinumGames.

Plus, Jackson got a new game, and we rip on Harry Potter some more, as is tradition.
