THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL:
COMFORT YOU
John 14:16 KJV
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever…
COUNSEL YOU
John 16:13
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.
Isaiah 30:21
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”
CONVICT YOU
John 16:8
When (the Spirit) comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.
The HOLY Spirit (THE HABITS OF HOLINESS)
The Greek word for holy is hagios: different, likeness or nature with the Lord, different from the world, set apart, other/otherness, special to the Lord.
Because of Christ, this is who we are: You are holy. You have been set apart.
Helps You Remember Who You Are
He reminds you daily:
This is what God says about you:
You are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
You are His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).
You are precious in His eyes (Isaiah 43:4).
He loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).
You are His son / You are His daughter (2 Corinthians 6:18).
He calls you His friend (John 15:15).
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).
He chose you (1 Peter 2:9).
Many are His thoughts about you (Psalm 139:17).
He has incredible plans for your life (Jeremiah 29:11).
With Him you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
Nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:35-39).
2. Helps You Chose Obedience
BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT = OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMFORT, HIS COUNSEL, AND HIS CONVICTION
John 14:15-17
“Loving me empowers you to obey my commands. And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you know him intimately because he remains with you and will live inside you.
Galatians 5:16-17
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
Galatians 5:25
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
Eliminate temptations today so you don’t have to resist them tomorrow.
3. Holds You To Your Repentance (True Identity)
First Adam:
Life prompted by the Spirit
Form given by the Word – Identity
Life Given by the Spirit – Purpose – First Adam Failed
Second Adam
Luke 3:21-23
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
