Psalm 33:10 TPT

With his breath he scatters the schemes of nations who oppose him; they will never succeed.

The psalmist has taken notice of the works of creation, in order to excite the church to praise. He does this in a way that really excites me because He doesn’t read off some political resume or profess the strategic intent of God, he simply tells of Gods ability to frustrate, to scatter, and not only to provide a way out for those who have been made righteous by Jesus but also to simply thwart those who try to plot according to their own understanding. Sometimes we think that evil will never go away and that God needs to show us how to navigate through around over and under the situations that hurt us. But sometimes He does not us to do a thing, He just wants us to sit back and trust that the consequences of His Word always triumph. But the results of those who plot against His chosen ones result in nothing. They may plan to have a long-term effect, but the plans of evil have no long-term effect at all!!!! They can not hide anything from God, He knows all the secret plots and designs of men, and he is omnipotent, and counteracts them, and confounds them in all their measures; and is faithful to his people, causes, and to their interests.

He breathed words and worlds were birthed. “Let there be,” and there it was—springing forth the moment he spoke, no sooner said than done!

I was always in awe of the creation account. Yet it was for a long time just that an account. It was distant from me personally. Almost as distant as the book of Leviticus or Numbers could be. But then I began a study of those first few verses in Genesis 1. And revelation upon revelation hit me. This was ALL about me. And you of course. It was not just the account of the earth building project. No, it was the very solution to all of my problems and concerns. You see when this scripture says God spoke or breathed words, one of the meanings of those words is that God pushed back the darkness. In fact the definition of some of the Hebrew in the context of Genesis’ “Let there be light” actually means that God declared war on darkness. And His weapon of choice? His Word. Right there in the beginning of time, my salvation and abundant light-filled life was prophesied. Through Jesus God has declared war on the darkness in your life. Every Word He has ever spoken has been to push back the pain and the hurt and tears. In fact, we long for a time when the final push against darkness is made and there will be no more tears or pain because the darkness is finally gone for good!

With breathtaking wonder, let everyone worship Yahweh, this awe-inspiring Creator.

Worship is a battle position. When we worship we are not at battle with some kind of enemy or army. Worship is the Lord’s way of communicating His plans for our minds, thoughts, and emotions. 

Believing in the wonder of God is a faith thing. And faith and doubt are constantly raging in the human mind. Faith in what we can’t see and doubt because of what we can. Paul wrote to the Hebrews extensively on faith. And in the 4th verse of chapter 11 of Hebrews Paul says that it is by faith that we understand the wonder of creation and that God made the entire universe. Finding the wonder of God in your life is a faith step. It cant be seen or touched but it is as tangible as the existence of the earth.  

When we try and make our faith about what we can see or control, we lose the wonder of God’s creativity. Awe is replaced with doubt and our worship becomes a desperate attempt to connect with God again. But our wonder and worship when we become faith-filled creatures is a constant conversation with the God of wonder that empowers us to overcome the doubts, insecurities, and hurts of life.

His voice scooped out the seas. The ocean depths he poured into vast reservoirs.

We can all adore His creativity and power when we not only read about creation but actually get the creation moment in our imagination and then seat it as a reality and a truth that far surpasses man-made theories about human origin. But there is more to it than that!

With God, there is always more to it!

I had a friend who could sculpt and paint. He was highly creative. His home was littered with unrelated artwork. He would go on these creative sprees and churn out pieces for weeks. But his bills were never paid, his home was chaotic, his cats ran the kitchen and he could never and I mean never find his car keys. God did not just go on a six-day creative spree and get a creative block on the seventh day. He ordered eternity. He set things up to be sustainable both physically and spiritually. He made sure that planets would not collide and that grace was prevalent. He set about creating an order that could sustain and speak of His love for all time.

He did not just create animals and things, he created eco-systems and processes for life. He did not just make oceans because He could, they were destined to play a part and be a part of something greater, years and years later!

All he had to do was speak by his Spirit-Wind command, and God created the heavenlies. Filled with galaxies and stars, the vast cosmos he wonderfully made.

This verse screams out the wonder of God. Not just His power to speak into existence the universe, the heavens, the angels, the earth, and humankind, but that of His very nature. The Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Spirit all working in unity IS the power of God.

Father, Word, and Spirit, jointly bursting with love and life!

With such incredible power and unity, how safe the saints are in His hands; and that he ought to be trusted in, adored, and worshipped.

Day 5 | Verse 5

The Lord loves seeing justice on the earth. Anywhere and everywhere you can find his faithful, unfailing love!

Another translation renders the first sentence of this verse as “The Lord loves righteousness and judgment…”. I love the concept that when judgment is delivered righteously we can say it is the highest and most pure form of justice. 

A friend of mine recently texted me that this verse could be rendered as “justice and righteousness are running mates”. God delights in giving out the status of righteousness and administrating justice Himself (Jeremiah 9:24). We need His divine intervention when it comes to justice because humankind has really only been able to introduce an injustice system. 

Think about God’s justice system. He honors our feeble attempts at righteousness because He sees our motivation being His Word, our love of Him, our faith in Him, and that we are at very least attempting to bring Him glory. He then adds to our righteousness and completes what is needed to have us be made completely righteous by sentencing not us, but His son to take on sin for those who put that faith offering in Him because His entire justice system is completely based on the perfect righteousness of His Son. At the same time, those who do not subscribe to His justice system in Jesus, receive the same level of righteous attention in the form of righteous judgment by the very prince of righteousness, Christ.

Because of this system the whole world is and will be completely filled with the manifest goodness and grace of Jesus. We yearn for the day when the whole world is made into the new earth, wherein only righteousness prevails.

“For God’s Word is something to sing about! He is true to his promises, his word can be trusted, and everything he does is reliable and right.”

The psalmist David knew this verse was true. He could not help himself when it came to singing songs about the promises and Word of God. God’s promises and his word are exciting and alive. But WE make it alive and fresh and new. 

Make no mistake, I love some of the old worship songs, but some of them just get overplayed on the radio and sometimes in church. To the point where they become stale and predictable. So I enjoy listening to new songs, even if they are about the same subject matter as the old ones. This first section of Psalm 33 is all about gifted new songs. How do we keep His promises true, and fresh, and wonderfully intriguing? We keep exploring scripture and expecting fresh revelation daily. We keep humble about the scriptures we think we know already and keep pressing in expecting a new song in our heart when we read them. We share these revelations with others who need encouragement and we watch the fresh revelation, from a very old trusted Word, become real and true right before our eyes!

Psalm 33:3 (TPT)

“Compose new melodies that release new praises to the Lord. Play his praises on instruments with the anointing and skill he gives you. Sing and shout with passion; make a spectacular sound of joy—”

Our worship is not great because of how we worship. Our response to God is not the source of our hope and joy. Our source is not found in the HOW of our worship but in WHO we worship. Because God never asks for anything He has not already blessed us with, when we worship Him He is automatically our source. But when we drift our focus, we attach ourselves to things that can not be a source of joy or hope. Then when we have no source, we feel like we are not good enough, we don’t have the ability or the talent or the means to worship Him. 

If you just worship Him, speak to Him ask Him this becomes your song of passion and He release the new gifts and talents so that you get to sing new songs of praise!
