Welcome to BS’ing with Brandi where our mission is to #GetShitDone. I'm your host Brandi Good and today we’re going to talk about how you can reduce shiny object syndrome, save time, maybe even save money by using these 6 steps to choosing the best tech for your business.
Our topic today was inspired by the dozens of members who have asked over the years questions like “should I use A or B for something” or which app is best for doing “this thing”. At a more detailed level, this is what I do for my consulting clients who generally have more complex business needs, but I recognize that sometimes people just have a simple question or need a place to start that doesn’t require a full consultation.
What I’m going to cover is [break it down into points]:
Step 1: The thing that you probably shouldn’t do first
Step 2: Be clear on what you need before you start shopping
Step 3: Is this really a DIY thing, or should you outsource
Step 4: Understand your *must have* features/functions
Step 5: Budget
Step 6: Support/Recommendations

This topic came from a recent podcast episode that I recorded for Allie at The Educated Boss. The episode isn’t out yet, but as soon as it is I will update the link in the notes. Allie asked me what was the one system in my business that I couldn’t live without. For a few seconds my brain flashed to my website, or lead magnet funnels, or my online booking software, but really, if it wasn’t for the system I have set up for task and project management - what I’ll refer to as my productivity system - my business would completely fall apart.
Here’s a quick outline of what I want to cover and then we’ll dive into more detail:
