5 things I'd do differently if starting a law firm today
Although my law firm today is successful and strong, I feel like I could have gotten to where I'm at today faster if I would have done a couple of things differently.
Today I'm going to share those with you.
1. Google Adwords for my law firm
You've been hearing me talk about this one for a while in the last few weeks because I'm teaching it as the course for Law Firm Confidential this quarter, but it's also one of my biggest regrets when it comes to starting my law firm.
Google adwords is easy, it's cheap, and it works. That's a great combination.
And, last but not least, it's got an immediate return on your investment. This isn't a long term play. You could get results today.
2. Networking
I wish I had taken the time to start and build successful referral networks when I first started. Those networks today would be strong, and they'd be sending me business valium online canada week after week, month after month.
It's never too late to do this. The key is to get over that fear of rejection and understand you are trying to form real connections here, not just get some business.
3. Law Firm Mentor
I never have been able to find a law firm owner to mentor me, and that's one thing I wish I'd had in the beginning. Give me some encouragement, hold me accountable, that kind of stuff.
Now I have my Inner Circle for this, but it's something I wish I had.
4. No office and no malpractice insurance
You don't need them and they drain all of your cash. If I was starting over I'd hold off on getting either one until I actually started to get some clients.
5. Stop jumping around and work on one thing until it's done
I have shiny object syndrome. I am easily distracted. There are a couple of reasons for this.
One is my innate curiosity.
The second is subconsciously knowing if I chase the shiny object I don't have to extend myself and open myself up for failure.
I'm still working on this today, but would have focused on it more.
That's it. What are some of the things you would do over? Let me know in the comments!
